FOR SALE

An opulent Jaguar XJ6L Series 2 in a remarkable unmolested. original condition.

EQUIPMENT

Chrome radiator grille. wrap-round chrome bumper. Jaguar leaping mascot. growler radiator badge. Jaguar wing motifs. chrome wing and door mirrors. chrome door handles. chrome window surrounds. twin chrome lockable petrol caps. natural wood facia. six gauge instrument cluster. fuel tank changeover switch. push-push switches. oddments tray. map reading lights. remote door mirror adjustment. lockable glove box with vanity mirror. central door locking. front and rear electric windows. fibre optic light cables. quartz clock. rear seat belts. rear coat hooks.   Factory fitted options include; Automatic transmission. air conditioning and a white Webasto sunroof.

EXTERIOR

This Jaguar XJ6L is finished in wonderful Old English White which suits the distinguished character perfectly.   The paint finish has a bright shine with a strong reflection and will stand proud at shows.   On close inspection minor pimples in isolated areas can be seen but absolutely no corrosion or rust and excellent panel fit.   All the chrome gleams but being original factory trim. does have age related wear.   The optional white Webasto sunroof is clean and operates smoothly and the tempered Climaglass unmarked.   The engine bay is very clean.   One rear bumper over-rider has a small ding.   An individual. imposing and sophisticated example of Jaguar magic.

INTERIOR
A sumptuous. luxurious and spotlessly clean Russet leather interior is complemented by natural wood veneer on the dashboard and is all undamaged.  The matching carpeting and door cards work to offer a striking and tasteful contrast to the exterior.   A refined and opulent cockpit with fully operational gauges. switches and rotary dials.   The fibre optic cables. (a British first on this model). which conducts lighting to certain control areas has dimmed.    The velvet headlining is tight and the seats are sculptured. deep and very comfortable.   The driver and passenger headrests have lost their fullness and replacement foam inserts are supplied.   Being the long wheel base rear passengers have 10cm more leg room and their own ventilation controls.   The quartz clock and Clarion sound system work.   A real automotive indulgence.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION

A gloriously smooth six cylinder well proven version of the XK 4. 2 litre engine produces 170bhp and a impressive 231 ib/ft of torque.   This is enough to propel the vehicle to a top speed of 125mph and onto 60mph in 8. 9 seconds. The optional Borg-Warner 3-speed auto transmission lacks the finesse of modern autos but was refined compared to competitors at the time.   The correct combination.

WHEELS. TYRES & BRAKES
The steel 15inch wheels have Jaguar hub-caps with growler badges and shiny chrome surrounds which are standard fitment and finish the striking exterior impact of the vehicle.   The branded tyres have ample tread.   Servo-assisted disc brakes all-round with ventilated discs at the front and separate hydraulic circuits offer incredible powerful stopping power.   A brake overhaul at 41. 10 inspires confidence.   Umbrella handbrake system holds the car.

HISTORY FILE
Registered new on the 6th September 1974 this pampered Series 2 Jaguar has only covered 41. 83 in the hands of six former keepers.   The previous owner garaged and cherished the car for 16 years documenting all expenditure leaving the new owner with little doubt on the mechanical wellbeing and sound nature of this example.   The only reason for the sale is due to the purchase of a concours replacement.   Supplied with the Jaguar operating handbook and two sets of keys.

12 months MOT. Tax September 2013. HPI Clear and an Approved Used Car Check Certificate.
