About The Car 

Born 6/81 in Sindelfingen Germany. this wonderful example of one of the best cars ever made has spent it's entire life in the dry climates California and Nevada. Bought new at Fletcher Jones Imports of Las Vegas. NV with an estimated MSRP of $35. 00 (over $85k in 2017 dollars). Invoices from recent work done. Original Owners Manual. Stamped Service Booklet. Warranty Booklet  are included as part of the cars' documentation. Clean CARFAX report showing no accident history. Clean and clear California title in my name.  

Engine 

With only 163k miles. the Legendary 3. 0 Turbo Diesel om617 Engine starts effortlessly. hot or cold and reflects years of proper maintenance and responsible ownership. No excessive smoke at start-up. blow-by or oil leaks. This car has never been run on Veggie Oil. NEVER! Heater/defrost functions work perfectly. I have just performed a major service (less than 100 miles) with a valve adjustment. diesel purge. new OEM fuel filters. fuel lines. oil change (Mobil Delvac 15w40) and new Mann Oil Filter. power steering filter and Air Filter. motor mounts and engine shocks. New under hood insulation pad. New lower oil pan and gasket. The engine runs smooth and the turbo delivers more than adequate power ensuring a proper driving experience. Transmission has been serviced with new fluid. filter and gasket. and shifts crisply and on time with no slipping. New Hankook Optimo H724 p195/70r14 Tires on factory 14x6 steel wheels with hubcaps. 20x new lug bolts. Completely rebuilt front suspension with new control arm bushings and tie rod ends. Rear SLS serviced and works properly. Ready to be driven anywhere. 26-28 MPG is about normal fuel economy for this car.  

Interior 

Original Blue MB Tex (Mercedes-Benz Texturized Punctured Vinyl) interior is in fine condition. showing only minimal signs of use over the last 3 decades. Because this car was fortunate enough to have the windows tinted many years ago and sheep skin seat covers. the upholstery is in beautiful shape with very little wear and very minimal “bleaching” from the sun as most others of this era display. The car smells fresh and clean. The upholstery has been professionally cleaned and conditioned.  Carpet is in great shape and has been removed and thoroughly washed. removing any residue of soap and dirt that have accumulated over the years. Factory floor mats. The dashpad unfortunately has some splits from the California sun. and comes with a cover. There is slight aging of the wood trim but it still shows very well. Optional 3rd row seating has a couple of points showing wear. Beautiful door panels x4. Vacuum operated door locks function properly. Aftermarket Pioneer CD Player work great. (Original Becker Gran Prix is included). All gauges. clock. switches work as normal. Has original 1st aid kit. tools. and warning triangle.  

Body 

The classic white (classicweiss) code 737 enamel paint shines beautifully and appears to be mostly original with the exception of small touch up here and there.  The body is straight and solid.  Paint has recently been professionally polished and sealed. A couple spots on the passenger side showing where the original paint is wearing thin.  All chrome and trim is present and in fine condition. Roof mounted luggage rack shows virtually no signs of use and no scratches on the roof. Rubber trim and door seals are all in good condition. All doors close properly and body panel gaps are good. Tailgate stays up as the pneumatic shocks had been replaced in the last few year. Has professionally installed receiver style trailer hitch mounted to the frame. All glass excellent.  

Overall this is a nice original car that has been used. but not abused. If you are in search of a pristine super low mileage example of a 300td. perhaps JG at Mercedes Motoring could find you one. If you are looking for a nice example of a solid west coast car that was used as intended and is very nice daily driver. then this car might be for you.
