1929 Model A Ford Style Pick-up Truck for sale
Current customer rating:
I am forced to sell my dream truck . hat I spent 5 years building. for the best possible reason of now being a father and the truck only having 2 seats. I built this truck from mainly Original Model A Ford parts and a lot of hand fabricated parts too. It was featured in Custom car Magazine July 2013 issue.
The Spec is as follows.
Engine. 1938 Ford flathead 81A entirely rebuilt/rebored by the well known Nervous Bob Froch
Gearbox. Transit 4 Speed.
Rear axle. Sherpa.
Front Axle& Steering. 1940's Morris 10
Chassis. After market Model T style that was part of the 2003 NSRA Billing Give away car.
Body. Original Model A scuttle. fuel tank. screen surround and doors. Hand fabed cant rails and cab back. Morris 10 Bonnet and Grill. 1930's Ford tailgate. Hand fabed pick-up bed.
Paint. Ford Diamond white.
Wheels. FX4 Taxi 16x4s with Excelsior Crossplys on the front and 7. 5x16 Firestone Town and countries on the rear.
Interior. Morris 10 Dash and steering wheel. Zephyr bench narrowed by a lot. White/silver flake vinyl. And a very old and cool looking heater that needs plumbing in.
When I went to register this vehicle I found it was to much of a bitsa to register as either the Morris 10 donor vehicle or a Ford so I was forced to put it through the SVA test and register it on a Q plate. It has its own unique mark on the log book and is not registered as any other make of vehicle. This does mean you have to pay road tax as it is a 2011 registered vehicle however the MOT is done on the engine age so its visual inspection for exhaust gas etc. The good thing about this registration process is that the V5 is completely correct and original unlike a lot of modified cars out there which are effectively ringers. This V5 cannot be taken away from the vehicle so as long as you don't mind paying road tax you have complete piece of mind.
GOOD POINTS.
All steel Model A Ford at a GRP style price. Totally correct V5. Desirable Ford flathead V8 Engine built by a reputable and accomplished Early Ford specialist. Absolute blast to drive and a real head turner. Painted and fabricated by Motor Vehicle College Lecturer. Cool early hot rod style build. Brand new rebuilt Radiator.
Bad points.
Speedo doesn't work. Jumps out of 3rd gear. Clutch judder when setting off. Needs rear axle location tweaking to correct pinion angle. Although if you choose not to do this it will only make prop shaft UJs wear prematurely. Heater needs plumbing.
In brief I am gutted to sell this car but I am looking forward to replacing it with something similar but with more seats.
