1985 Ferrari 308 GTS for sale
Current customer rating: (392 votes ) based onVery original. as it came off the showroom floor. Never wrecked. No severe damage. Never touched up or severely scratched.
Completely original paint. Completely original interior. Completely original drive train. (Except normal maintenance items. )
Less than 59. 00 miles. Runs and drives great. Always well taken care of. It has never sat outside overnight (except when it was transported from California to Oklahoma on a trailer). Rarely been in the sun. This Ferrari has been driven less than 2. 00 miles per year since it was new.
I've owned it for over 17 years. The car has been serviced at Boardwalk Ferrari in Dallas.
It has a clear carfax report. as shown below. The VIN is ZFFUA13AXF0052903 if you would like to run the report yourself.
NADA values this car at $50. 00 at "High Retail". $42. 00 at "Average Retail". and $33. 00 at "Low Retail". I've been told this car should sell at the high retail price or higher due to its excellent condition and originality. However. to be as reasonable as possible. I'm starting this no reserve auction at a very low price. For more information about NADA values. please visit their website at NADA. com:

While at their site. please browse the values of the older Ferrari's in this series (the 246/308/328 series). such as the 1974 Dino 246 GTS Targa. It's shocking how the older Ferrari's are going up in value:

I bought this car in April of 1996 from a car collector in Redwood City. California. The car has spent most of the time in my garage. I've done my best to keep it out of the sun. Of course it's never been rained on or driven in bad weather.
The timing belts were replaced in 2008. The oil has been changed about every 500 miles (or more often).
The car is in excellent condition and runs & drives very well. I don't know of any major problems.
The main selling point on this car is the original paint and interior. The car was built in July of 1984. which makes it nearly 29 years old. It's very rare to have the factory original paint in this good of condition. It has never been severely scratched. dented. wrecked or damaged.
Before I purchased this Ferrari. I searched for over two years to find one in this condition. Obviously. I wanted the red with tan leather interior. Repainted and repaired cars were plentiful. However. I was not willing to invest in a collector's Ferrari that had been damaged and repaired. I did not settle.
The reason I am selling the car is I have a son in college and another son about to enter college. Obviously. I have some big expenses ahead of me with the kids. I need to pay their tuition.
I am located in Oklahoma City. You are welcome to come look at the car. If you would like to talk to me. send me a message and I will give you my telephone number.
The heater and A/C work. All of the glass is in excellent condition. I don't know of any cracks. chips. or scratches. As with everything else. all of the glass is original.
The clutch was replaced around 15. 00 miles ago. It is in excellent condition.
Of course the original owner's manual is included. Also. of course the original jack and tool kit. The wrenches actually say Ferrari on them.
I don't know of any major problems with this car. However. as with any 29 year old Ferrari. it does have the normal small issues:
As shown in the pictures below. the left front rim has a small amount of "curb rash" from the previous owner. The other three rims have a few scratches mainly from the tire shops when the tires were replaced. The good news is the rims are painted aluminum from the factory. Any body shop can repaint the rims and make them look brand new again. However. as of right now. they have never been touched up or repainted. They are completely original.
The electric windows are very slow to roll up and down. They do work. They are just slow. I believe this is an issue with all Ferrari's from this generation.
I don't think the power door locks work. Or if they do. they don't work very well. I actually have never used them. In the past 17 years. if I've taken the car out of my garage. it has never left my sight. Locking the car doors is not going to stop a serious thief. This car cannot be left alone in a parking lot. If the wheels were stolen. they would be very hard to replace. Tires are cheap. but these original rims are very expensive. I've seen these original Ferrari rims sell for as much as $4. 00 for the set. Plus the Ferrari emblems are highly sought after by the kit car people. I've heard of people paying over $2. 00 for a set of original Ferrari emblems. By the way. the emblems on this car are the original emblems in excellent condition.
In cold temperatures. second gear is tricky to shift into. The good news is the car has enough horsepower you don't even need second gear. Go straight from first to third. Once the car is warm. all gears work very well. This is a common issue for all Ferrari's in this generation.
In cold temperatures. one of the drive belts squeaks when the car is cold. I believe this can be taken care of with a simple adjustment. I simply don't drive the car in cold weather. so I haven't had it adjusted.
In cold temperatures. the speedometer occasionally does not register. However. the odometer does still work. so I believe the miles are correct and it's simply an internal issue with the speedometer. Again. I don't drive the car in cold weather. so it's never been a problem.
There is a tiny drip which appears to be from the front upper radiator hose. It doesn't actually cause a problem. I just make sure and keep the antifreeze topped off with new antifreeze. My plan was to have it fixed the next time the car is serviced.
The car drips a tiny bit of engine oil on the garage floor. Not enough to hurt anything on the car. but enough to make a mess on my clean garage floor. I think this is a very common issue with Ferrari's in this generation.
Insurance has been very inexpensive for this car. Since the car is over 25 years old. it can be insured as a "classic/collectible". Since it may be worth more than book value. it can be insured for specific dollar amount. instead of just regular book value.
I will be out of town (and unavailable) Memorial Day Weekend (May 24th to the 27th).
All pictures below were taken within the last two weeks. The only picture that is older than a week is the one with the boy in it.
There was a request for more photos of the interior. I took my little point and shoot camera and snapped several photos of the interior. The bright flash makes the colors of the leather seats look uneven. Please look at the pictures carefully and you will notice it's just a problem with the flash being too bright.
In the picture below. the bright white object at the bottom is simply the driver's seat head rest. The flash makes it look very bright.
