SELLER REMARKS

This 1965 Mercury Marauder isn't a car. it is now static art. With just 3860 original miles (not a misprint). it is so authentic and well-preserved that those are still its original tires! So for you fans of originality who missed the big auction a few weeks ago. this Marauder has your name all over it.

Fresh from the Hallbrook Museum in Arkansas. this car has been in climate-controlled stasis since. oh. about three months after it was built. The level of preservation is quite extraordinary making this the kind of car that will have onlookers constantly speculating about its past and it provides an invaluable road map to duplicating the factory's work as closely as possible. You can see how exacting the panel gaps were. how shiny the chrome was. and the level of care that went into the general assembly. It really is quite illuminating to see it all in unrestored condition yet so beautifully preserved. Even the black vinyl top remains glossy and supple. so you know someone took good care of it beyond simply keeping the dust off.

The black interior shows off room for six with a pair of black bench seats that still feel as firm as they did on the showroom floor. The upholstery shows virtually zero wear. which you'd expect. and thanks to its sheltered life. there's no UV damage or signs of age in the material itself. The shiny instrument panel covers the basics with indicator lamps for the auxiliary functions (the Marauder was performance on a relative budget. remember) and the factory AM radio still lives in the dash powered by 1960s transistors. Little stuff like the shift indicator (which is crystal clear) and the textured steering wheel rim are like new and all the brightwork. which usually starts to deteriorate the minute you get it home. remains quite shiny. The big trunk is fitted with the original mat and spare tire. which has never been on the ground!

Want to see how to finish your 390 cubic inch V8 in your Marauder restoration project? All the answers are here. The bright orange Mercury paint is not regular Ford Blue and it has just the right shine. Correct decals remain firmly affixed to their surfaces and there's really no real sign of major use. further confirming the low-mileage claim. It's possible that the belts and hoses have been replaced over the years. but they were careful to keep the tower hose clamps which add authenticity. It's backed by the 3-speed Merc-O-Matic automatic transmission (which shockingly isn't a major leaker) and 9-inch rear end are just as they were back then. too. The undercarriage is a bit crusty. but that's simply because most of it was bare metal that was never treated or painted. so this is how it looked before it even rolled off the transporter. The muffler might be a replacement piece. but there's no doubt that those are the original 8. 15-15 whitewall tires on factory wheels with optional hubcaps.

Heavily documented with original owner's manual and ID card. bill of sale. maintenance receipts. a partial build sheet and much more. this is a no-questions survivor in remarkable condition. If that's your thing. this is your car. Call today!
