numbers

Please note when checking the numbers that not only do the correct stampings and casting numbers appear on the parts. but all of the dates are also chronologically correct. This means that all of the parts were made and assembled in the correct order. For example. all of the dates for the individual engine components and the engine casting date should obviously precede the assembly date of the engine because the parts had to be produced before they could be assembled. Most of the parts I checked follow this rule and are dated correctly.

condition

Exterior

The Frost Beige exterior is in excellent driver condition. As one can see in the photos the finish has a terrific gloss. deep shine. and smooth finish. Both door open and shut nicely as do the hood and headlights. The N90 aluminum wheels and center caps are in beautiful condition with a brilliant finish and no curb rash. The tires have about 90% tread left. There are no major imperfections that have been intentionally excluded from the photos. There are some very tiny blemishes that were too tiny to show up in the pictures. but nothing that is really noticeably from about five or ten feet away. This Corvette has no rust issues. The underside of the car is clean and we have include many photos below with specific photos of the areas most prone to rust. The frame is solid around the "key hole" area in front of the rear tire and I have seen no evidence of corrosion around the windshield. which are the two most notorious spots for rust on a C3 Corvette.

The car looks just as good in person as it does in the photos.

Interior

The Camel Leather interior in this Corvette is in great condition. The seats are in nice shape and look as good in person as they do in the photos with no rips or split seams. The carpet is good condition with no holes. tears. or stains. This includes the rear carpet. which is often neglected. The gauge faces are clean and crisp and the lenses are clear. The door panels are in great shape overall and the door pulls are solid and intact. The dash and console look awesome with no cracks or sun fading. The jack and jack handle are still with the car. stored correctly behind the passenger seat. and pictured below. The original spare is still with the car. Corvette interiors from this era are not known to wear well. and the excellent condition of this interior is a huge testament to the meticulous care and attention this car has received throughout its life.

The interior looks just as good in person as it does in the photos.

Mechanical

This Corvette seems to be in very good mechanical condition. The car starts right away every time. runs well. and idles well. It drives great and feels nice on the road and at highway speeds. In the video below one can observe the car accelerating on the highway up to about 70mph. shifting through all the gears. braking to stoplight. and going through some curves. Please note that there are no vibrations or strange noises and the car performs quite well overall. There is no blue smoke when starting or driving the car. This Corvette has plenty of power and is quite fast. Also. the engine compartment is beautifully clean and detailed as one can see in the photos. Even the smog pump is still in place.

The horn works as do all the horn. exterior lights. wipers. power windows. and power antenna. The power seat works in all directions. The blower works on all speeds. The a/c works and blows cold. One can observe the a/c compressor engaging properly in the video. The vacuum system for the headlights works correctly. Also. the headlights go up properly with either the headlight switch or vacuum override switch. There complete operation form both switches can be viewed in the video below. All of the gauges work and even the clock runs. The rear defogger and the check engine light do not work. There is the very slight sound of an exhaust leak. which is very common on 1981 Corvettes. Not enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this car. especially with the T-tops out on a beautiful day.

The car runs and drives as well as it looks.

Overall Condition

Overall. this 1981 Corvette is in magnificent driver condition. Numbers matching is extremely important in Corvette pricing. especially with low mileage examples like this car. and as any buyer can see this Corvette is extremely correct. The originality. the low miles. the excellent overall condition. and the great extent to which the numbers match make this car especially important and hard to duplicate. This Corvette always gets a ton of attention driving down the road. It is apparent that the vehicle has been well taken care of by its previous owners. The prices of C3 Corvettes have increased considerably over the past several years. They are secure and wise investments for a collector. One could easily enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than the purchase price with minimal effort.

Thank you for looking and please do not hesitate to email or call with any questions.
