The Autospeed replica turnkey takes the "Replica" to new heights. We start with our own body kit of hand-laid fiberglass with the doors and deck lids fitted to a production quality fit. All major components of the car are per-assembled to the body and installed for accurate operation. then they are removed prior to the body work. The body is primered and blocked at least three times to insure all waves and distortions are removed from the fiberglass. All minor imperfections in the fiberglass are removed at this time and all body panels are even up.

The doors and decks are removed from the body and painted off of the car to insure no flat spots or unpainted areas.

The basic Volkswagen pan in stripped of all components and bolted into a cutting jig. The pan is shortened and all tubes pulled out the back and cut off. the jig is cranked together and the pan mig welded. During this process the weak and rusted areas are removed and replaced with stronger material.

Build-up of the pan is done with all new brake components from the brake reservoir to the brake drums & rotors. The includes lines & fittings. The transmission is rebuilt with new bearings. gears. and syncros utilizing a 3:88 final drive. The 3:88 gearing gives better drivability with the lighter car. The front suspension is rebuilt with new ball joints. bearings. bushings ad a new steering box. an adjustable lowering mechanism is installed. At the rear. we install adjustable coil over shocks and on the front we install a set of special valved lowered shocks far an even ride. Special stiff shocks and valving are available. New chrome wheels and 165x15R radial tires are mounted.

The body is then mounted to the pan and the steering is installed. All cables and hoses are new with a new fuel line from the front to the rear is installed.

The doors are rechecked for fit. then removed for painting. The painting process takes three to four weeks as we us the original German Glasurit method of painting. color sanding and buffing of the panels and finish polishing all surfaces.

The car is then wired with a new harness designed for specific components of the car. New VDO 356 replica gauges are installed and matched to the VW Drive-Train.

The upholstery is done next with replica German carpet and the best vinyls of leathers for the particular application. The seats are available in two types. the original 356 Speedster style with cutouts or a special Speedster GT style. A canvas top is installed and replica side curtains fitted. A short boot for the top when it is retracted is also included.

The bumper trim and all exterior badgng is replica 356 with the "Speedster" emblems direct OEM.

The car is then sent out to a separate alignment shop to double check the tracking and suspension for drivability.

Color choices for the body and interior are strictly up to the customer. For color to match. we need the make. model. & year of the vehicle or the color code. For the upholstery colors we need a sample or you may choose from our selection. The top & side curtains come in either black or tan only. Other colors are available by special order.
