Very clean. honest. original 1987 Porsche 944. approximately 91. 00 original. documented miles.
The maintenance history of this beautifully preserved car is exhaustive. Paperwork originating from July 11. 1987. when the car was purchased new. Based on the meticulous paperwork. there have never been any accidents. rust. or body repair. I am the fourth owner. The first was a pilot who shared his time between Schenectady. New York. Jackson. Mississippi. and Gainesville. Florida. He owned it for 27 years. Any maintenance performed was documented via saved receipts. I purchased the car in January 2016.
Since that time. I have performed extensive maintenance on the car. both necessary and precautionary. In the past twelve months I have:
1. Professionally replaced the timing belt. balance shaft belt. water pump. and front crankshaft seal 2. Professionally replaced the air-conditioning compressor. a/c fittings. and dryer. as well as a full evacuate and charge 3. Replaced the spark plugs and spark plug wires 4. Replaced the distributor cap and rotor 5. Replaced the fuel filter 6. Replaced the oxygen sensor 7. Replaced the speed and reference sensors 8. Replaced the clutch master cylinder. clutch slave cylinder. and both upper and lower clutch hoses 9. Professionally powder coated the 4 original teledial wheels 10. Replaced the front speakers with new Blaupunkt units 11. Renewed the gauge cluster lighting 12. Replaced rear hatch seal. 13. Replaced both sunroof seals. Items 1 and 2 were performed by a well-respected independent Porsche mechanic. Monty Montgomery of Desoto Eurowerks in Nesbit. MS. Item 9 was performed by Rick's Powdercoating in Memphis. TN. All other work on this list was performed by me.
In addition. I have installed an Autothority DME computer chip which adds a slight power gain. but also evens out the torque throughout the rev range. Also. I have installed a throttle cam which provides a more linear throttle response compared to throttle input. The cumulative effects of these two updates along with the maintenance performed have transformed this beauty into an automobile which can easily keep up with cars 25 years younger. Moreover. the solid construction and driving feel of this Porsche suggest that this is not a 30-year-old car. The brakes are very effective. the acceleration is linear and brisk. the steering is tight. and the suspension hugs corners very well.
Items needing attention: (short list)
1. Passenger window has begun to fail to wind up/down. I believe this is a failed window motor. These can be picked up used on eBay or new through specialist websites very reasonably. 2. Fuel gauge doesn't register anything but 3/8 of a tank. I have not yet investigated this issue. I simply refuel every 300 miles. (Yes. the odometer works perfectly!) 3. The power driver's seat intermittently works. I believe this is simply caused by dirty electrical contacts on the switches.

In summary. this German classic can be enjoyed easily. comfortably. and inexpensively. It is truly one of the best 944's around. I have taken on the major maintenance items with the intent on keeping this time capsule for many years. However. my priorities have changed. The lucky next owner will be able to hop in and thoroughly appreciate the elegant lines and beautiful craftsmanship of this modern-day classic.
*Note: The automobile is for sale locally as well. I reserve the right to end the auction early at any time. Bid accordingly. No warranties are stated or implied. Vehicle sold as-is.
