1967 Sunbeam Tiger Mk 1A -- No Reserve for sale
Current customer rating: (558 votes ) based onI've owned this car for about 4 years and it is currently on the road. registered. and inspected. It's an honest "Drive while you restore" car.
The previous owner owned the car since 1973 -- included with the car is the actual bill of sale from March 31. 1973 when the previous owner purchased the car for $400. Also included is a copy of the previous owner's title (I made a photocopy before I gave it to the registry when I purchased the car)
The previous owner had limited use of his right side -- due to this he made some modifications in order allow him to drive the car:
1) It's an automatic since he was unable to easily use the original 4 speed transmission. I don't have the original 4 speed transmission. 2) Power steering -- unfortunately to get the power steering unit in they had to bang up the overflow tank pretty good -- see pics. 3) The ignition is on the left side of the column instead of the right where it should be. 4) The horn is rigged down by the gas pedal. 5) The seats. the originals are in great shape and they come with the car. Not sure why the previous owner installed the current seats or what they came out of. 6) Other misc modifications made by the previous owner -- electric fan. chapman lock. hood pin. power antenna and speakers for aftermarket radio which is no longer in the car. aftermarket steering wheel and side pipes.
For more pictures send an email and I'll send you a link to the photobucket account I set up.
It's a great car. but it does need some work. Car was originally blue. but is now red. It's a 20 foot paint job. maybe 25 feet. There are some nicks here and there and it's just generally getting a bit old. You can still see the blue behind the back seat area.
Mileage shows 53333 -- however the odometer doesn't work. so the actual mileage is unknown. The previous title shows the mileage just over 66000 -- so it's probably turned over. However the car is currently titled at 53333 miles.
It's got the Ford 260 V8 with a 2bbl carb. I believe this to be the original engine. however I can't confirm.
As you can see in the pics a few of the emblems are missing -- I do have the grill emblem though. The chrome is average -- it's original chrome that's about 47 years old. It's looks ok. but there's some pitting and scratches.
Temperature. battery. and oil pressure gauges work. Gas gauge works sometimes. but there is a short somewhere. so sometimes it works. sometimes it doesn't. Speedometer (and odometer) and tach don't work. The dash lights work (I originally thought they didn't. but they do). Turn signals work. but there's a short somewhere there too. sometimes they work. other times they don't. The brake lights just stopped working the other day. the car passed inspection in July. but since then a few typical British electrical items have started popping up. Headlights and wipers work.
Gas tanks have been taken out. cleaned. stripped. and completely refurbished.
Car is very. very solid. I found one area where it appears some rust was repaired under the passenger seat (if you look in the pictures where I removed the seat. you can see some daylight coming through against the far right passenger side).
There is no top. no hard top. no convertible top.
