1965 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 Tribute

This tribute car was built from the ground up to be a street version “R” code 1965 Shelby GT350.   Extensive research and agonizing over the details was undertaken to make this car correct.   Countless hours were spent and no detail has been overlooked during the build. as is hopefully evidenced by the photos in this listing (for additional photos please contact me as eBay would only allow me to upload 24 photos).  These photos were taken in my driveway on September 22nd. 2013.   The car has been driven only 2010 miles since completion (which is what the odometer reads).   Actual mileage is unknown.   Please feel free to ask questions or to request photos of specific areas of the car.   Personal inspections are welcome.   Clear title. 10% PayPal deposit required within 48 hours after the end of the auction and full payment required within 10 days thereafter.  

Some details about the car:

Motor:  Totally rebuilt date code correct 1965 289 HIPO. bored 40 over. balanced. correct flat top forged pistons. correct date coded cylinder heads (exhaust side ported). correct open letter valve covers. correct Cobra T 7-1/2 quart oil pan. correct cobra high rise intake manifold. Pro Systems HP carburetor. hi-performance camshaft. correct mechanical advanced distributor. Tri Y Shelby headers. glass packed bullet mufflers. estimated horsepower 325-350.   Trunk mounted Group 24 Autolite battery.  

Transmission:  Ford racing clutch and disc. wide ratio top loader 4 speed totally rebuilt.

Rear end: heavy duty racing drive shaft. original nodular 9 inch center section. 4:11 ring & pinion by Richmond Gear. Detroit Locker. 31 spline. Shelby traction bars. drive shaft safety loop.

Brakes:  Kelsey Hayes 4 piston caliper front disc brakes. Lincoln Versailles rear disc brakes (no emergency brakes presently connected). correct Kelsey Hayes proportioning valve.

Suspension:  Correct Shelby upper control arm drop (1 inch). lowered front springs. Shelby pitman arm and idler. 1. 5 inch front sway bar. Koni shocks. Flaming River 16:1 manual steering box. Shelby export brace. Monte Carlo stabilizer bar. rear axle 1” lowering blocks. 15x7 Torque Thrust wheels with BF Goodrich Radial T/A 205/60R15 tires.  

Electrical:  New wiring harnesses installed throughout.

Interior:  Shelby gauge pod with CS logo tachometer and oil pressure gauges. correct 15” Shelby wood grain Moto Lita steering wheel. radio delete. correct rear seat delete Shelby spare tire panel with spare. 3” wide competition seat belts. correct Shelby 4 point roll bar. fire extinguisher. all new weather stripping. complete bare interior was lined with Thermo Tec heat/sound suppressing mat. heater core has been rebuilt though heater blower motor switch is inoperative (have new switch but it has not been installed).  

Body:  Very straight and no rust anywhere; one piece fiberglass hood with scoop. racing type klik pins. new fenders. quarters. door skins and floors.  

Exterior:  Beautifully painted in correct Wimbledon White with Guardsman blue Le Mans stripes.   Car is presently registered in Florida and wears an authentic 1965 Florida tag.  

I have a 2” stack of receipts evidencing all that has been done and the $77k presently invested in this car. as well as several hundred photos documenting the restoration.   This car is a beast and an absolute joy to drive. It runs and sounds absolutely amazing and gets a lot of attention every time I take it out.

I am also updating engine photos as correct yellow top distributor was installed this week (and moved to the more correct location on the passenger side of the motor next to oil dipstick).  Also a fan shroud was installed. during which time I took the opportunity to flush the cooling system which I filled with new coolant and distilled water (50/50 mix).
