vehicle description

Seven Hills Motorcars is very proud to offer this numbers matching 1979 Corvette in outstanding original condition and with only 56. 10 original miles. This Corvette looks fantastic. runs great. and is an excellent driver. The car is totally solid with nice lines and no rust issues. The Frost Blue (28) over Dark Blue Leather (292) is a very rare and beautiful color combination that looks great on the car. Frost Blue is a stunning color. It is a very light blue that almost looks white in some light; this car gets complements and comments on the color everywhere it goes. This is also the correct an original color scheme. verified by the codes on the trim tag. which is pictured below.

The car is absolutely loaded with describable options as one can see in the extensive list of RPO codes above such as the N90 Aluminum wheels. AM-FM Stereo Radio. tilt wheel. power windows. power locks. sport mirrors. air conditioning. and most importantly the color scheme. The low original mileage is verified not only by the condition of the car. but also the clear Ohio title. pictured below. showing the mileage as "Actual. " Please peruse all of the photos. video. list of numbers. and other information below to get a true sense of how nice. clean. and original this Corvette really is.

We purchased this Corvette from a gentleman in Dayton. OH. His family was the second owner of the car and purchased it in 1986. There are records and an Ohio Sales Tax form fro 1986 that go with the car to verify this information. There are also a ton of service and maintenance records for the car. pictured below. that date back to the early 1980's.

As a side note. this Corvette is not a dealer auction vehicle.   We hand pick each car after careful inspection.   Our Corvettes come from owners who expect their car to go to someone that will give the vehicle the same care and attention as they did.   We invite and encourage you to examine the car in person or have the car inspected.   Please take the time to scrutinize each picture.   We photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel confident about your purchase.   If you have a question about the Corvette. just give us a call.

  model description

The Corvette evolution continues" announced the slogan from the 1979 Corvette sales catalog. The L48 engine received the dual-snorkel air intake introduced in 1978 for the optional L82 V-8. which added 10 horsepower. All Corvettes in 1979 now had the high-back bucket seats introduced on the 1978 limited-edition Indianapolis 500 Pace Car. A higher pivot point allowed the seat backrest fold more flat and level with the luggage area floor. which drastically improved access to the rear storage area.

numbers

Please note when checking the numbers that not only do the correct stampings and casting numbers appear on the parts. but all of the dates are also chronologically correct. This means that all of the parts were made and assembled in the correct order. For example. all of the dates for the individual engine components and the engine casting date should obviously precede the assembly date of the engine because the parts had to be produced before they could be assembled. All of the parts I checked follow this rule and are dated correctly.

item number description* VIN 1Z8789S419363 The first digit. "1. quot; indicated the Chevrolet division of GM.   The "Z" is the series. Corvette.   The "87" is the body style. 2-door sport coupe.   The fifth digit is the engine. 8. correct for an L48 car.   The sixth digit. "9. quot; indicates the model year. 1979.   The "S" is the plant where the car was produced. St. Louis.   The last five digits are a sequence number so this is the 19. 63rd Corvette made for 1979. Body Build Date F18 "F" corresponds to January. and "18" is the eighteenth day of the month meaning this Corvette's body build date is December 9. 1978. Engine Code V0112 "V" means the engine was build in the Flint. MI plant.   The "01" is the first month of year and the "12" is the twelfth day of the month meaning the engine was assembled on January 12. 1979.   This is correct as it precedes the build date of the car. Suffix Code ZAH This means the motor was intended for a 1979 L48 Corvette with an automatic transmission. which is correct for this car. This intake was only used on Corvettes in 1979 Intake Manifold Casting Date A 10 9 "A" is January. "10" is the tenth day of the month. and "9" is the last digit of the calendar year so the intake manifold was cast on January 10. 1979.   Carburetor 17059216 The original carburetor has the correct stamping for a 1979 L48 Corvette with an automatic transmission and a/c. The fourth digit. "5. quot; means the carb was built in the 1976 - 1979 production run. The fifth digit. "9. quot; means it was built for the 1979 model year. The six digit. "010. quot; indicate the 10th day of the year. The last digit. "9. quot; is the year in which the carburetor was produced. 1979. So this carburetor was stamped on January 10. 1979. Distributor 1103302 The distributor is original and correct for an L48 Corvette with an automatic transmission with a 1103302 stamping. condition

Exterior

The Frost Blue exterior is in great driver condition. As one can see in the photos the finish has a terrific gloss. deep shine. and smooth finish. Both doors open and shut nicely as do the hood and headlights and the car exhibits good body panel fit overall. The N90 aluminum wheels and center caps are in beautiful condition with a brilliant finish and no curb rash. The tires are literally brand new with less than 20 miles on them. As one would expect from a paintjob with this many year on it there are some small blemishes and the appropriate bumper fade. but nothing else that is really noticeable from about five or ten feet away. As one can see in the many photos of the underside of the car. it is very clean and this Corvette has absolutely NO RUST ISSUES. We have included specific photos of the areas most prone to rust. The frame is totally solid with no rust around the "key hole" are in front of the rear tire and I have seen no evidence of corrosion around the windshield. which are the two most notorious spots for rust on a C3 Corvette.

Window Date Codes

Please note that almost all of the glass on this Corvette is date coded and original as each piece predates the car's body build date of January 18. 1979 (F18). Original glass is a good indication that this car has had no major accident history and never sustained significant damage.

The car looks just as good in person as it does in the photos.

Interior

The Dark Blue Leather interior in this Corvette is in spectacular original condition. The seats are in excellent condition with no excessive wear. just some small marks in the typical area where the driver gets in and out. Please note that these are the original seats and skins. not some cheap aftermarket covers or replacements. The carpet is also original and in great condition. There is just a small spot of wear on the passenger side. but as one can see in the photos the area is covered by the mat and not very noticeable. The door panels are in good shape and. unlike many Corvettes of this age. they fit well and tight to the door. The door pulls are solid and intact. The dash and console look awesome with no sun fading. The jack and jack handle are still with the car. stored correctly behind the passenger seat. and pictured below showing the original decals on the compartment lid. The original spare is still with the car and has never been used. This Corvette has never been smoked in; there are no burns marks and no aroma of cigarettes. Corvette interiors from this era are not known to wear well and the excellent condition of this original interior is a huge testament to the meticulous care and attention this car has received throughout its life and another great verification of the low original mileage.

The interior looks just as good in person as it does in the photos.

Mechanical

This Corvette seems to be in very good mechanical condition. The car starts right away every time. runs well. and idle smooth. It drives great and feels nice on the road and at highway speeds. In the video below one can observe the car accelerating on the highway up to about 70mph. shifting through all the gears. braking to stoplight. and going through some curves. Please note that there are no strange noises or vibrations and the car performs quite well overall. This Corvette has plenty of power and is quite fast. Also. the engine compartment is beautifully clean. detailed. correct and complete as one can see in the photos. Even the ignition shielding and original catalytic converter are still in place.

The radio works as do all the exterior lights. horn. wipers. power windows. and even the power door locks and cruise control work. which are very common problems on C3 Corvettes. The blower works on all speeds and the a/c also works and blows cold. One can observe the a/c compressor clicking on and engaging properly in the video. The vacuum system for the headlights works correctly. Also. the headlights go up correctly with either the headlight switch or vacuum override switch. There complete operation form both switches can be viewed in the video below. Not enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this car. especially with the T-tops out on a beautiful day

The car runs and drives as well as it looks.

Overall Condition

Overall. this 1979 Corvette is in magnificent driver condition. The originality. the very low miles. the many options. the beautiful original color combination. and the great overall condition make this car especially important and hard to duplicate. Numbers matching is very important in the Corvette market and in Corvette pricing. This car is remarkably correct and original and there are photos below of the VIN stamp on the engine block. suffix code. engine assembly date. transmission VIN stamp. and transmission assembly date. This Corvette always gets a ton of attention driving down the road. It is apparent that the vehicle has been well taken care of by its previous owners. The prices of C3 Corvettes have increased considerably over the past several years. They are secure and wise investments for a collector. One could easily enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than the purchase price with minimal effort.
