1969 AMC AMX 401/727 SS AMX Tribute for sale
Current customer rating: (690 votes ) based on I am selling my 2 time AMO Gold Award Winning 1969 AMX. A complete rotisserie restoration was completed by the previous owner. The odometer reads 76. 39 undocumented miles. There has only been approximately 2700 miles put on the car since its completion in 2010. This is virtually a new 43 year old car. My plans were to add the SS AMX Hood Scoop and a Crossram 390. a T-10 4 speed and wider rear Cragars to complete the 1 of 52 SS AMX's look. but I'll let the new owner do that. It would easily take $40k to build an AMX of this quality.
I had the 3:54 posi rebuilt as it was noisy and had leaky seals. It has a newly installed 2 1/2" exhaust system with Maginiflows all the way back from the Edelbrock Shorty Headers to the new stainless tips. The 1973 401 is mildly built and runs on pump gas with no pinging. It has a powder coated Edelbrock Airgap Intake with an Eddy 750 carb. The ignition is a Mallory HEI unit and it has a high torque mini starter. A 140 amp one wire alternator was installed to handle the pull from the dual electric fans an AC. It has an aluminum Griffin Radiator that runs a reasonable 185-200 degrees. It is a factory AC car with upgraded Sanden Compressor and blows cold. ALL electrical and lamps work as they should. The factory tach has never been hooked up. I did not want to damage it with the HEI which has no tach hook up.
The paint work is outstanding with NO hard line at the tri-color edges. This was originally a Matador Red AMX and there is no door tag or sticker as the door tag was lost during the restoration. The hood. fenders & trunk lid are fiberglass. The underside of the car was painted the matching Matador Red and all the suspension pieces were painted with POR 15 silver. All new bushings & bearings were installed as well as new KYB shocks. The front disc brakes were upgraded with new 78 Concord parts. I felt the AMX sat just a little too low in the rear so I added helper springs to raise the rear. Both bumpers were triple chrome plated. The gas tank was cleaned and coated with a POR kit.
The legendary interior is all new and it has later non OEM style one-piece retractable seat belts. It has new carpet with matching AMX floor mats. A Quiet One Sound Deadening System was installed on the floor prior to the new carpet & pad installation. It has a nice AM/FM/CD PLAYER and a spare original uncut radio pod is included in the sale. All the glass is good except for the back glass which has some light scratches.
I am including a matching 15x7 full size spare Cragar wheel with a matching Firehawk Indy 235/60-15 tire. The rear wheels are 15x8 with 245/60-15 Firehawks. The 6T9 AMX license plates are NOT included in the auction.
I have a clear title in my name and the car is sold as is with no warranty. A $1500 non- refundable deposit is due with 48 hours of auction end and the remaining payment by certified bank check or cash is due within 7 days of auction end. Thanks for looking.
