Here is my 1989 Porsche 944. It was originally an S2. but do to an engine failure around 60k in 2011. the 3. 0L 4cyl was removed and a full Turbo drivetrain swap was professionally performed from a 1986 Turbo donor car. Since an S2 is cosmetically the same and has the same brake system as a Turbo. the only giveaway is the lack of a factory boost gauge in the lower part of the dash.
The miles are true and accurate at 81k; I have full documentation and records to support this. This car was originally bought new in Pennsylvania and the original owner sold it in 2005 with just under 13k on the clock. I have all the state inspection reports up to 2005 with the bill of sale to the second owner. He is the one that had the Turbo swap performed and owned it until 2015 when I took possession of the car. Unfortunately in December of 2011 he had an off road excursion which damaged the front bumper. fender. and passenger side door. This earned the car a rebuilt title from the insurance company. as an estimate was done replacing everything with factory parts. The car was much to nice to see that fate. so the owner elected to keep the car and repair it. I have the body shop receipt and parts receipts. so all the repairs are in black and white. The work was done by a top notch Porsche specialist body/restoration shop that the local dealer uses. ALL body panels except for the front bumper have the factory VIN tags in place. so no panels were replaced. only repaired. Again. all documentation is included as well as an inch thick folder with all records for the car.
The interior is the rare Linen color and is in excellent shape. representative of a babied 80k car. There is one small seam separation on the drivers seat and one small crack in the dash by the defroster vent. Check the pics. very very minor imperfections. Door panels. dash. headliner. carpet. all in excellent shape. The hatch carpet is starting to just wear away do to age in the high spots. which is typical of the later cars with this style of carpet.
The exterior paint was just professionally paint corrected so there are zero swirl marks or black car paint problems. the reflection is mirror-like. Honestly. this car is way nicer and more presentable than 90% of the 944's I see pass through eBay. The rebuilt title does hurt the value tremendously. which is a shame because this car led such a pampered life and is so clean.
Mechanically the car is stout. New rod bearings and a head job was done on the motor when it was put in. All new seals. gaskets. belts. etc. Everything you would expect when a motor swap is performed. The intake manifold. valve cover gasket. cam box cover. and intercooler tubes were all powder coated. This is a LSD transmission car. and it works and operates perfectly. It has a short throw shifter and bushing kit as well. The swap has about 20k on it. including the clutch and related components. The clutch disc on these cars have six small center springs to quell vibrations during engagement. These tend to fall out and usually they find their way out of the bell housing. unfortunately one has fallen out of this disc and has not found its way out and occasionally you can hear it rattling around in there. It's not always present. just comes and goes. Mechanically the car is sound and stout. starts perfectly every time. cold or hot and idles perfectly. The header does have a small crack under the heat sheild. as they all eventually do. Not really that noticeable. but in the interest of full disclosure. it needs to be mentioned. There are ZERO oil leaks present. Both radiator fans operate normally. low and high speed. and the car runs cool at all times. The AC is ice cold. and the heat is hot and perfect. All climate control functions are in perfect working condition. The car makes a full 15psi of boost with no drop off thanks to the addition of a Tial 38mm wastegate. 3" Lindsey exhaust. and all new factory hangers. bolts. and gaskets. A Zeitronix wideband keeps tabs on the AFR. The car has 993 Turbo Twist wheels on it. 18x8 up front with 18X 10's in the rear with Michelin Pilot Sport (PS2) tires on them. These are factory Porsche wheels. Hawk HP Plus brake pads and new rear rotors were just installed. Factory Turbo Phone Dial wheels are included with the car and have Toyo RA1 tires on them.
Most of the concentration was on the suspension. and it has many necessary upgrades. Paragons Koni Cup coil overs front and rear. 968 M030 front and rear sway bars. 968 front control arms. sway bar drop links. camber plates. strut tie bar. just to name a few. The Redline harness bar was just installed and fits perfectly. the upper seat back and rear seat belts are obviously included. Ball joints. tie rods. various bushings. all have been attended to. Again. records and receipts for everything. The timing belt was replaced as well as the tensioner. pulleys. balance shaft seals and belt and water pump. all within the past 2 years. 5k. A new AGM battery was put in 6 months ago along with new cables. All electronics work like they should including the sunroof. power locks. windows. and mirrors. cruise control. and both power seats. No weird battery drains or gremlins. The car can sit for over a month with no charger on it. and it fires right up. A Pioneer media player/Bluetooth/CD player was just installed as well as 4 Alpine speakers in the factory locations. I can't stress enough how nice of a car this is. I just bought a Boxster S and have a couple other projects and just can't justify keeping this. I know I will regret selling this. as it is all worked out. is fast on the highway. and has super neutral handling. Its hard to find them this clean anymore and not spend $20k. The next caretaker of this 944 will have themselves a great car.
All books. owners manuals. records. receipts. and both factory keys are included with the car. eBay only allows 24 pics. I would have love to put more. If you would like more pics. or would like to call me to discuss the car further. just message me. I'm sure I am leaving a ton of info out. This car is worth more than the asking price in parts alone. but it's way to nice to end up with that fate. Any questions. don't hesitate to ask. Thanks for looking.
