1973 Ford Other for sale
Current customer rating: (137 votes ) based onI cannot take credit for doing the chassis swap but I can say the work was pretty well done. The donor chassis is a 1989 dodge D250 (2wd) with the bed shortened. The nice part about it that is this makes it easy to get parts for and avoids the need for custom pieces. The body is NOT some rusty falling apart carcass on a newer frame. It is in GREAT shape.
The truck is mechanically sound.
Motor starts right up. Runs. drives. turns. stops just like it should. There is some new stuff under the hood also like a new (top of the line) FASS Fuel Delivery System. It has an upgraded turbine housing and stainless exhaust manifold. (More boost/more power). This Cummins motor is commonly called "the million mile motor". Its the last generation before vehicles became complicated electrical and computerized nightmares. The motor has never been modified or had the boost turned up. The radiator. water pump. thermostat. and thermostat housing are only a few years old. The thermostat was converted to cross flow for better cooling. The exhaust is a flowmaster with a straight thru muffler. It gets 17-23 MPG.
The front suspension was all redone and it has cool wheels brand new tires on it. The springs and shocks are only a few years old.
The rear end has a 3. 07 gear ratio for better mileage. The rear shocks only have a few thousand miles on them and are complimented by some helper airbags in the back (for towing). The rear license plate flips up to reveal a hidden tow hitch.
The body and paint are in pretty decent shape. The trim is all there.
All in all. the truck is great runner but needs a few minor things to call it finished. These things are minor. While its normal to NOT mention the negative aspects of a vehicle you are trying to sell I feel like the issues with this are so minor that I am not worried and have listed them below.
1) There are switches for the power windows in place in the doors but. they are not connected. I believe the motors are there also but these arent hooked up. We never messed with them.
2) There are no side mirrors. The mounting holes from when it had mirrors have been shaved off. filled in and painted over. They're gone.
3) The glove box has no interior. There is space for it but for now its just a door to the inside of the dashboard.
4) The front bumper is only attached on one side. The drivers side. (If you look closely at the pictures you will see its sits slightly lower on the passenger side. ) The bumper is a simple fix that my shop can (and will) handle before the buyer picks it up. My bad for listing it before I had this addressed.
This truck is for sure super cool and obviously one of a kind. Its nice enough to get those "cool truck" head nods from people at stoplights. You get a thumbs up from someone every time you drive it.
I am a motivated seller but I am not going to give this away. Feel free to make me an offer. Listed at $16. 5k
