Honda 1300 coupe 7 suit restoration or Nc Historic race or rally 7S 9S JDM

 This is a rare Honda 1300 coupe in overall sound condition suitable for restoration or historic racing.   (The 1300 coupe 7 was raced at bathurst in 1971 and 1972 and is homologated as a touring car recognised by CAMS)
So what is a 1300 coupe?  This was Honda's flagship sports model in the early 1970s.   It featured a stylish compact 2 door coupe body. front wheel drive. 3 pot front disc brakes. independent suspension all round and an amazing all-alloy. OHC. steel crank. dry sumped. oil/air cooled engine that revved to 8. 00rpm and put out 102PS in single carb 7 form and an amazing 116PS in the 4 carb 9 version.   Unfortunately they were very expensive - the 9 version cost the same as a Torana XU1 - so few were sold.   These cars are now VERY rare being originally sold pretty much only in Australia and Japan.   Most people have never even seen one in the flash - only on playstation! They are prone to rust - of the 8 cars I hunted down for this project this is the ONLY one that had a basically rust free sound body.   (The other 7 were cut up for spares - I will also be selling those soon. )  The car was last run when I obtained it 7 years ago and drove OK -(albeit very noisily as it has no exhaust fitted!)  We had a full brake rebuild done and a quick blow over in striped blue paint to match the contemporary colours used in Japanese domestic racing of the period (see http://www. honda-1300-coupe. com/photos/racing/pic6. jpg ) but then my business situation changed and I no longer had time for cars - so the project has sat idle ever since.   The car has race seats fitted but I can supply (free of charge to the buyer) a set of front and back seats if wanted for a road restoration.   (I can also supply an original 4 carb set - but that would cost an additional $400 and they would need a rebuild. )  I have not attempted to start the car as the battery has long ago been thrown out but I can demonstrate it turns over freely.   There are minor signs of rust but nothing significant.   Underneath has surface rust but the floor and panels are sound.   The car is currently on my hoist for easy inspection.   Buyer must collect within 7 days of purchase.    The price is realistic - when I bought this car 7 years ago 1300 coupes were commonly available on Yahoo Japan for A$3. 00.   Now the only two I have seen on Yahoo Japan in the last 6 months were A$20. 00+ each!  I guess they have finally realised how rare these have become and how few good cars are still available.   Inspection available weekend or evenings.   Call John on 0418 313181.   Buyer to arrange their own pickup or delivery.   No extensions on pickup time possible so please do not ask.
