1941 Cadillac 62 Convertible Sedan Offered as a buy-it-now. Make us an offer!

This very rare Convertible Sedan (around 400 made) is an exceptionally nice fully restored car set up for touring. that presents quite well. with only the most minor of faults visible only upon close inspection.

The chrome is excellent. as is the exterior paint. although there are a few small spots where the paint is marked from road usage. (From three feet you do not see them). The interior leather is soft. supple and sumptuous; the canvas top and brackets near perfect. The dash has a small slightly faded area from the car's Texas days. hardly noticeable.

Recent work includes all mechanical components from the battery. new in 2014 to the windshield wipers. rebuilt in 2007. Invoices accompany the car. The exception is the engine which has 100+/- lbs. compression and runs quiet. powerful without oil consumption.

This Cadillac came with GM's original automatic transmission which works easily and kicks down when needed. For touring the seller added power steering and a supplemental custom in line radiator placed behind the left front tire with a screen guard in front of it. There is also an electric fan in front of the regular radiator. The electrics are 12 volts. and the wheels ride on radial tires. The brakes are rebuilt and stop the car appropriately.

Touring highlights with the Cadillac include the CCCA Autumn in the Adirondacks Tour in September. 2010 and weekend trips to the Delaware River Valley and the White Mountains in New Hampshire. Last Memorial Day weekend we drove the car to Falmouth. MA. . on the Cape. about 475 miles. in rain and in traffic. without difficulty.

If you are looking for an exceptional CCCA touring and show car. finished in a desirable color combination that you don't see very often- Here's your car!

Cadillac was formed from the remnants of the Henry Ford Co when Henry Ford departed along with several of his key partners and the company was dissolved. With the intent of liquidating the firm's assets. Ford's financial backers. alled in engineer Henry Leland to appraise the plant and equipment prior to selling them. Instead. Leland persuaded them to continue the automobile business using Leland's proven 1-cylinder engine. Henry Ford's departure required a new name. and the company reformed as the Cadillac Automobile Company.

The Cadillac automobile was named after the 17th century French explorer Antoine Laumet de La Mothe. sieur de Cadillac. founder of Detroit in 1701.

Cadillac helped to define advanced engineering. luxury and style early in Automotive History and would come to be known as one of the world's finest made vehicles. Cadillac introduced the first production V8 engine for the 1914 model year. Cadillac was the first manufacturer to utilize the skills of a designer to produce a car's body instead of an engineer (1927). This gave the public a car that looked as good as it performed. Cadillac's engineers were first to design a manual transmission with synchronizers for increased drivability (1929) and were instrumental in the early development of the automatic transmission. beginning in 1932. Cadillac offered a production V16 engine from 1930 through 1940 and introduced the production independent wishbone front suspension in 1934. The marque introduced tailfins for 1948. The '41 model is generally considered the ultimate Cadillac design wise. setting the stage for all Post War Caddys while still retaining many Pre War elements of design and massing.
