1966 FORD MUSTANG COUPE YELLOW 289CUI V8 4.7 LITRE TIME WARP ORIGINAL

The time has come to sell my fathers 1966 Ford Mustang.

History:

The car was manufactured in 1966 and has spent most of its life in New Jersey USA. It was imported to the UK in September 2012 by my Father. This car is exceptionally rare as it has only ever had 3 owners including my father. The last owner being a Mrs Mary Sampson who owned the car a staggering 37 years. As such the car has never been restored. modified or turned into a hot rod. Everything is included in the history file including the original owners handbook. metal ID tags from the factory (HOW RARE ARE THESE!?) and my favourite piece. a letter from the Governor to New Jersey to Mrs Sampson in reply to a letter she sent. being concerned the new emission laws would mean she couldn't drive her Mustang any more. How amazing is that!?

There is also a file of receipts for items over the years. All export papers are included and the car is fully UK registered with MOT & tax until August 2014. Yes. the car is completely TAX FREE.

Exterior:

Finished in original Springtime yellow which really stands out amongst the sea of modern day silver cars. The body is completely rust free and was still bare metal and primer when it arrived in the UK. Since then it has had a full wax oil but we have photos of the underside beforehand to prove how clean it was. Obviously the car is 47 years old so she's not mint. There are light scratches. paint chips. crazing to the paint from the USA sun and pitting to the chrome but come on. she's completely unrestored and unmolested! There has obviously been paintwork during the cars life but she has never ever had a full respray. The car is on its original steel wheels with hubcaps and some snazzy white wall tyres.   Included are the black and silver USA style plates and some UK legal white and yellow plates.

Interior:

The interior is amazing. The stitching on all the seats is nice with Mustang labelled black rubber mats. Inside is completely original. even down to the factory radio fitted (Needs a new aerial fitting on the outside. but with the v8 rumble. you don't need it). The roof lining is all good and the rear seat has the benefit of rear seatbelts for the kids.  Inside the boot is a full brand new boot carpet set including inside car cover.

The car has the RARE FACTORY FITTED Power steering so you don't need Sylvester Stallone arms to turn it either.

Engine & Transmission:

This is the best bit. 289cui V8 which is basically 4. 7 litres and coupled to a 3 speed cruise-o-matic gearbox. The engine has done a genuine 87k miles and is all original having recently been given a full service. The only modifications are the chrome air filter and an electronic ignition kit to make it more reliable. She really purrs and sounds amazing with that distinct BLUM BLUM BLUM BLUM sound on tickover that makes any petrolhead melt.

Summary:

This car truly does stand out from the crowd. The bright yellow/creamy colour and distinct V8 burble draw attention to it far much more than other cars on the road. Being such an original car with history its ideal for a concourse restoration. base for modifications or if you just want that slice of 1960's America without the added Hotrod.

Whilst the car isn't mint being 47 years old. it really is like a time warp. Sliding in behind the large steering wheel. the v8 burble and the T shifter slotted into drive. you really do feel like you are back in the 1960's ready to cruise Route 66.
