I recently purchased it from a close friend who was well known in the E24 6 series community in San Diego. He won multiple "clean car" shows under his ownership. He was the third owner at the time and purchased it in September 2001 with approximately 41k miles.
When I purchased it in April. my goal was to make this M6 the best driving example. No expense was spared after my purchase in April of this year. All recent work performed at one of the most respected shops in the BMW arena. Avus Autosport in Glendale. CA. Receipts for over $20k recently spent.
The motor was overhauled including a ported and polished cylinder head. Competition three way valve job was performed. 1mm oversize intake and exhaust stainless steel valves. Dinan performance chip and exhaust cam gear installed. Stage 1 performance camshafts also. This engine pulls strongly throughout the rev range.
The car handles incredibly well with new Bilstein heavy duty shocks all around along with H&R performance street springs. The stock self leveling suspension was eliminated. Front upper and lower control arms were replaced along with all of the steering linkage. Rear subframe mounts replaced with Ireland Engineering urethane mounts. Rear pitman arms replaced. The front crossmember has also been professionally reinforced. a common weakness on these 6 series cars. All new brakes. including overhauled calipers and new steel braided brake lines.
BBS 16" RS wheels complement the car beautifully. Yokohama AVS ES100 tires in excellent condition.
The pictures do not do this car justice. It drives flawlessly and feels ultra crisp. It really brings out the best of the era. There may be a less expensive example out there. but non will compare to the condition and meticulous care this M6 has seen over the course of its life. The first serious buyer to see and/or drive will realize what a bargain this M6 truly is.
I have too many cars and I must find a new home for this classic BMW collectible.
