1979 Porsche 911 for sale
Current customer rating: (80 votes ) based onThis may be an easy restoration for a diyer with mechanical experience or knows someone who is. Don't let the European name scare you. Porsches and Volkswagen are well known for durability and dependability. Although. a few things you should know like check oil level only. es only with engine warm because that's what it says on the dipstick. And also . he valve adjustment is . 001. yes it is tight. And you can't do it without taking down the tub. It is an air cooled. il cooled system. It has a trombone cooling. Meaning there is a bend on the copper pipe that goes back to the motor. You may need to remove the trombone and change it with any oil cooler that can be soldered to the trombone fitting. Otherwise. our temp will go up if stuck in traffic on a hot summer day. Copper line also has a flat part from bumping on a uhaul trailer. If you know how to solder copper. you can replace it with proper sized one. That part may have also cause the increase in temp. Muffler has holes from rust. Always have a fire extinguisher when driving classic 911s. The body is galvanized and may last a hundred years if cared for. The steering shaft and it's ujoint are rusted which may be the cause of soft shaking at 75-80. There are scratches and dings of course. The engine ran before being parked in the garage for a few years. All the oil. and I couldn't believe the brake fluid too. had drained out. I wouldn't waste my time fixing small things. If you get this. i suggest doing an entire restoration/ repair or use it for parts. 4th gear wasn't going in when driving. may need a clutch. The interior is mostly there except maybe pieces of the carpet on the driver side. A. c. controls aren't put back right. System has no Freon from leak. It uses regular rectangular fog lights that you can get anywhere. Other than that. most of the parts that they don't make any more are there. Parts can be costly so you can save with this one. The engine and transmission sits on the tub. It comes down together. Treat it like a boat. Don't trust gaskets alone. always use oil resistant silicone in every gasket. The oil sending unit may be the most common source of oil leak. so put oilres silicone on it too. Freon has leaked out since the last person used hose clamps to fix it. It may need new lines or upgrade to 134. This 911 heater gets heat from the exhaust manifold so make sure it's sealed from carbon monoxide or just disconnect it to be safe. It has Fuchs wheels. This car may not be fully 1979 stock. Wear and tear parts like the tires are worn out. Remember. his car sat in the garage for a few years. Have you seen a non galvanized 1969 911s going for $100. 00? This 1979 with galvanized body may be one of your good investment without the probability of turning into a apile of rust in your garage. Be it restoration with your son or grandson or maybe just use it as a garage decoration to sell in a few years. Immediate $1. 00 deposit from winning bidder.
