I'm a car buff. but with an expensive 1 year old daughter. and less time to enjoy this 'Vette. it is looking for a good home.
 The battery is brand new. the transmission was replaced professionally 2 years ago. a new alternator was installed and the pop up headlights work great. All to say it is a well taken care of collectible. Is it in perfect shape? No. the paint is original (waxes nicely!). the rear view mirror is unglued. and I only have the driver's side T-top. But it has been garage kept under a custom cover. oil changed regularly despite few miles on it. and my mechanic has put his kids through school maintaining it. It is a wonderful and fun car.  
 By 1978. the Chevrolet Corvette had already been in production for 25 years which is much longer than most models and once again the Corvette was honored to pace the famous Indy 500. Chevrolet took the opportunity to commemorate the Anniversary event with a spectacular Pace Car Edition. Since Chevrolet had 6. 00 dealers at the time. the decision to build a special limited edition so that each showroom could have at least one. Today they have become quite sought after in the collector world with only 6. 02 being produced. Indy-500 Pace cars featured Black/Metallic Silver two-tone paint which was first two-tone paint option offered by Corvette since 1961. Other features were the unique front and rear spoilers. polished aluminum Red-stripe wheels. mirror-tint roof panels and special “clam shell” contoured sport seats finished in Silver Leather. The most spectacular new design styling was the “fastback” rear end having a large rear window. reminiscent of the lines of the mid-'60s. that was beneficial for both aerodynamics and increased usable luggage space while improving rearward visibility. Other desirable options include air conditioning. power windows and door locks. tilt-telescopic steering column. and cruise control.
