1988 Merkur XR4Ti Modified SVO Turbocoupe for sale

This is a one owner car. purchased new in 1988. It currently has less than 94. 00 original miles. It was my desire to turn it into a Cosworth replica. Over $40. 00 invested. I am now retired and have no time or interest in completing this project. It needs a good home. The car has not been driven more than 200 miles in the last 9 years. There has never been any rust. dents. or door dings. The car was repainted in 2002 in the original color. It has original. reinforced Cosworth grille. front bumper. hood vents. and rear wing. Fender flares and side skirts are fiberglass molded into the body. Rear Hatch is from 1985 model. The flat insert between taillights is custom made. The step in the rear bumper has been removed. All locks and rear wiper are removed. Euro headlights and smoked taillights. Sierra front and rear sway bars. Sierra R/S front and rear shocks and HD upper strut bushings. urethane front bushings. lowered springs and OPM front and rear strut braces. Front brakes are Wilwood 4 pot calipers on 11. 25 inch drilled. ventilated rotors. rear disk brakes. all with aeroquip lines. The engine was replaced in the period between 2005 and 2012 with a motor I bought from Dave Godfrey. It had been run about 2500 miles. The block and head were built to support 400 horsepower. Too much to list. All fasteners are stainles steel. It has a Fidanza aluminum flywheel. a Centerforce II clutch and a T-5 WC 5 speed transmission using a Steeda shifter and a new custom one-piece driveshaft. It has a new Rod's stainless steel header. new Inovative street heat T04E stage 3 turbo. new Custom Performance upper intake. ported. knife edged lower. new Turbo Joe fuel rail. new SX fuel regulator. full 3 inch down pipe - aluminized. new Tial external waste gate.  Used C & R aluminum radiator with twin Spal cooling fans and an aluminum intercooler. All hoses are blue Samco silicone. The oil filter is mounted remotely. using a new Canton racing remote filter. It also has an external oil cooler mounted in front of the air conditioning radiator. The gas tank and been renewed and a new Walbro 255 kph fuel pump installed. It has an L3 turbo coupe computer. a MAP sensor and runs a Megasquirt engine management system. The battery is mounted in the trunk in a custom aluminum case.  Exhaust is custom bent stainless steel. MagnaFlow SS muffler and MagnaFlow tail pipe tips. all through a new Hi-flow 3 inch catalytic converter. The interior has stock seats which are in very decent shape. The passenger seat has a couple of yellowish spots. but no rips or tears. The carpeting in new from Rapido with sisal mats. The headliner is news. It has a european gauge surround and Euro clock. new Momo competition steering wheel. new Ford Motorsports shift knob. There is a new Autometer fuel pressure gauge and AEM au-fuel meter gauge plus software. There sre Cosworth stainless steel door sillsThe wheels are Cosworth Escort 16x7 and are newly refinished (powder coated). they are as new. The tires are Nitto NT 450 Extreme. 205/50/16 front and 225/50/16 rear. They are older. but have few miles on them. The sound system has a JVC Kameleon headset. Focal speakers. 2 Cadence amplifiers. a 10 inch subwoofer. a 12 disc CD changer in the trunk. and a powered roof antenna plus Pursuit alarm system.
That's most of it. I'm sure I've left some out.  Now the bad. the passenger visor light doesn't work. There is no 3rd brake light. Two pieces of the plastic trim around the rear windows (interior) have a crack from age. They can be repaired. The air conditioner does not work. The compressor is rebuilt but never had a charge in it. It still needs someone who knows how to tune it. It runs. but in my estimation. not well. When you shut it down. there are strong fumes that linger. The valve cover vents to the outside. so that may be the source. The radiator developed a leak.
All in all. this is one of the finer Merkurs around. It just needs a good home.
This car cannot be driven any great distance as it sits. It would need to be trailered or shipped.
