1987 Porsche 911 Carrera Targa

What a head-turner! Great curb appeal and attention getter. I never make it back home without someone giving thumbs up or asking me about my car. The day I graduated college in 1988. I saw a car like this and told myself that one day. when I could afford it. I would buy that exact car. I took delivery about two weeks after my 40th birthday. It's been my dream car but it's time to part ways after 8 years.  

The car commands attention as it's simply not like other Porsche's you see day-to-day. Whale tail. huge flared fenders that are iconic with older Porsche models. prior to the 996 redesign. If you like curves. this one won't disappoint. This is a 1987 Porsche 911 Carrera Targa with factory steel Slantnose conversion taken from a Porsche 930 front-end. A Porsche Dealer in Santa Monica. CA placed this car in his showroom for several years after he completed the conversion. The Targa emblems and the Porsche label on the rear are even dipped in 24K gold! All original mechanical aspects with no leaks. no drips and no compression loss found during the 60K maintenance. In fact. the mechanics told me ". your 3. 2L six cylinder engine is bulletproof and the G50 transmission is fantastic. " 

I had the interior completely redone. New dash with VDO pearl-face gauges. Vosstek pedals. modern Porsche steering wheel with crest logo. Porsche gear knob. all new leather seats with additional foam inserts for comfort (front-only). brand new carpet all the way around. rubber all-weather floor mats. Carrera door sills. an upgraded Pioneer stereo system with sub-woofer that really cranks out the sound. 3-stage Speedline wheels with brand-new Michellin Pilot Sport A/S rubber. (Front - 225/45 and Rear - 285/40. about 13 inches wide less than 200 miles ago). The interior looks like new and is much more modern looking than stock 1987 models.  

This is my weekend toy car. I only drive it when the weather is nice. which is indicated by the low mileage. only 68. 23 original miles as of auction start date! I purchased the car with 53. 00 miles about eight years ago and the Targa top has never been used. (Available with handle cranks to lock the top in place. interior fabric is a little loose. ) The AC needs a new compressor so I've disabled the belts as I have no need for AC. (new compressor about $800) Recently. the wipers started to run continuously and the guys at Mayo Performance who service my car said I need a new relay assembly. Instead. they recommended I remove the $. 50 fuse to just disable the wipers since it's never seen any rain in my eight years.

Paint is in good shape. lower front below the bumper is pocked with some rock chips and there's a small paint chip on the hood near the Porsche crest about the size of an eraser head. There's a door ding and paint chip on the passenger rear-fender above the wheel and the front-right bumper has some paint damage (scrapes) when I brushed up against a light pole cement standard while parking at a baseball game. There is a very small outward facing dent on the hood (dented from the inside but barely noticeable). Other than those few blemishes. the paint shines and glistens like new. All receipts and service work documentation available along with the original Owners Manual which still looks brand new. Synthetic oil change less than 200 miles ago when the tires were installed and recently registered in Texas and inspected. I'm completely transparent and can forward close-up photos if requested. This car isn't perfect but is ready for someone who's willing to provide it as much care as I have. Serious bidders only please.
