Beautiful 911 964 Carrera 4 Coupe – Limited edition Cobalt Blue exterior and interior

This is a beautiful car and. as it is a Carrera 4 (4 wheel drive). the handling and road holding are excellent.   This makes it easy to drive as an everyday car but with the excitement and power of a sports car. This car has been a show car and reviewed in Evo magazine (Oct 2002. see picture).  

Car will also come complete with: original wheels (currently 17” alloys). original Porsche tool kit. inc. spare tyre inflator. Porsche service history and original owners manual. service book. spare keys. Mot and tax.

I did a lot of homework before buying this car. so I will share with you as much detail as I know.

This is a UK. RHD car first registered in 1991. and I am the 7th owner.

I have the original service book. which has been kept stamped and updated .   I also have previous years MOTs and service reports to verify the mileage and history. and a loose file (approx 1 1/2” thick) of Porsche service reports. work and parts receipts dating back continuously to 1995.

I have owned the car since 2007 when it had done 82. 00 miles. so in my 6 years of ownership I have only driven the car as a fun car for approx. 8000 miles in total.

I am selling now because I have too many cars and do not drive this car enough to justify keeping it.

Exterior:

The car is Cobalt blue and the paintwork is very good.   The only non-cosmetic  defects are some rust bubbles at the base of the windscreen seal (see picture).  These have been painted over with matching cobalt blue rustproof paint.

The car is fitted with electronically operating teardrop mirrors (later addition) and it has an electrically operated factory fitted sunroof.

The electronically operated rear spoiler is fully functional (automatically lifts at 55mph and resets at walking pace).

Interior:

The car has full leather interior in matching blue. It is very comfortable and supportive.    The condition of the leather seats is excellent for a car of this age.

Front seats are electronically adjustable. the rear seats fold flat to allow more practical luggage space.

Engine condition/performance:

To me. a non-professional. the engine sounds great and drives fantastically.   The power delivery is smooth. effective and spot on when needed.   I have never had any problems with the engine performance of the car or its reliability (apart from the failure of a fuel relay switch which was replaced).

This generation of Porsche 964s has a reputation for leaking oil due to a Porsche design error (the cylinder heads are mounted to the engine body without any gaskets).   My car has no noticeable oil leaks and never has had any that I am aware of (other than some oil seepage around engine components. common to older cars).

Minor faults:

The bonnet and engine lid are held up by gas struts and the ones fitted on the car have aged and need to be replaced.  

The rear window wiper arm has broken and needs to be replaced (don't use it myself).

The air conditioning needs re-conditioning (again. don't use it myself).

To summarise. this car is in excellent condition and well maintained.   A very good example of a great model.
