By 1970. the 911 model had established itself as one of Europe's
most refined and enjoyable sports cars for the road as well as a
serious weapon on the racetrack in production-based formulae. The
first of many high-performance versions of the newly introduced 911
arrived in 1966 with the introduction of the 911S. These 2. 2-litre
911S models are nowadays considered one of the most sought after
pre-1973 911's offering a very flexible torque-curve yet retaining
the light. rev-happy feel of the earlier 2. 0-litre models.

This 1971 911'S' example originally built to 2. 2 litre
specification has been completely rebuilt and bought into line with
the 2. 4 'S' specification of the same year. The chassis is reported
to be in fine condition with any parts that had shown wear. br/>replaced and all work carried out to a high standard that will
certainly stand up to close examination. In over 25 years of
ownership. it has been used very little due to a burgeoning racing
engines building business. The odometer shows less than 4000 miles;
a figure that can be relied upon implicitly and is an accurate
representation of what the car has done since its rebuild.
Originally built as a lefthand drive car for the German market. it
was later converted to righthand drive using original Porsche
factory components.
The updating to the later 2. 4 litre 'S' specification consisted of
fitting a re-built engine and Carrera 915 gearbox to the car with
all work executed with complete adherence to the Porsche
technical manuals where necessary applied tolerances were
stringently adhered to.

During the course of the full engine rebuild. all parts were
replaced as necessary with no expense spared including; valves. br/>springs. valve guides. bearings. timing chains and tensioners. It
is also worthy of note that the later. more reliable. hydraulic
timing chain tensioners were used in place of the period
originals.
The original specification 8. 5:1 pistons; which were designed for
use with the lower grade 72 octane fuel. have been replaced with
new forged MAHL 10. 3:1 pistons more suitable for modern pump fuels
which also give a welcome improvement in engine torque figures and
fuel consumption. Supplied with an MoT test certificate valid until
August 2014. UK V5 documents and further history. this exciting and
truly iconic 911S with the current engine specification
improvements now make it comparable to that of the Porsche 2. 7
Carrera RS!
