FACT: There were only 832 street versions of this car made.  The rest were all delivered to Shelby for GT350 conversion.
HISTORY:  This rare convertible was purchased new from a Colorado dealer by a man from Arizona. He drove it in Arizona for 8 yrs before giving it to his son who was in the 11th grade. During the son's senior year he blew the motor. The father took it back and put it in storage in 1978 @70k orig miles - and told the son he would never drive it again. It sat in a storage shed in Arizona for 26 years.  When the father died in 2004. the son got the car out of storage and took it to Michigan and sold the car to a couple in Michigan who kept it in storage until I purchased it in 2006. While restoring the motor it was discovered that the #1 had a hairline crack - common for overheating. It was bored to 30 over and the #1 was sleeved. Stock 1/4 time 15 flat. A joy to drive - awesome ride! Candy Apple Red / Red interior (copper over-spray). A true time capsule. all original unmolested interior & body (except for over-spray) and top (duck tape and all).
PRICE: This is a NUMBERS MATCHING VIN: Door. Dash. Apron. Grill. Block. Trans & Rear End.  All tags are present.  On average there are less than 10% of these cars in existence. and even fewer that have not be dismantled.  Restored this car is valued at $43. 20. which I consider to be low because this car has less than 80k original miles.  You are encouraged to contact me. view the car and drive it.  I will make the car available to you or your certified inspector.  This is a used car that is 45 yrs old and is being sold as is.
This is not a salvage title: If it were it would only be worth ½ the NADA value.
This is not a coupe or mocked up GT or Shelby look a like or a “T Code or “C” Code big block swap.  The value of these cars comes from their unmodified condition. ie. never be wrecked. dismantled and is numbers matching.  A modified Mustang may look cool. but you will never get your money back like the Convertible GTCS. LOLOL.  Do your home work and ask questions.  Learning about cars is a hobby. knowing about a particular car is a discipline.  The most valuable (this is an investment not a joy ride but it is a joy to drive) model is the Convertible.  The least valuable is a coupe.  I have never seen a coupe go for more than 10K in any condition unless it was a GTCS.
This is the original 5. 0 mustang convertible all new for 1968.  The very car that Shelby converted to GT350's.  If you are a collector of muscle cars then you know Fords are the only ones that can be verified. Build sheets can be mocked and so can cars.  I have posted the Marti report and I will provide additional detailed photos to serious buyers and answer any and all questions.  If you want a call please include your telephone number.
FYI: this car had the thermactor tubes in place when I got the car and they had never been removed.  When I say time capsule I'm not kidding around.  Research smog 1968 federal requirements.  And you thought your 4spd 68 was all original.
