THE GOOD:

This is one great running car.   Ready to get on the road for the spring or summer. Originally purchased at Brumos Pompano Florida on Dec 17. 1970.   For sale is this 1971 Porsche 914 1. 7-litre that's only had about four owners. had always been well maintained. and fortunately went into a barn storage over 12 years ago and does not have a license plate at this time.   I have three folders of all the maintenance records.   The car only has about 86000 miles on it.

-has to be sold to pay for daughter's college

-new battery and area below battery is near perfect

-clear title from Illinois

-new voltage regulator

-horn works. blower works. all lights but under the bumper work

-engine was supposedly rebuilt by 2 owners ago and has like new heat exchangers and muffler

-all valves. timing. tune-up. belt replacement done in last 3 months

-rebuilt Weber carburetor with 2 liter distributer; zero pops or snaps. idles perfectly even in the Chicago 20 degree weather

-new fuel lines front to back with filters

-new tires and rebuild calipers and brake pads

-paint in good shape. but was poorly buffed; good at 7 yards. but should be basecoated and top coated

-interior really good shape. with one small crack in dash

-shifting is fine. although I can rush it and force a grind on 1st.

-all rusted floor pans cut out and rewelded; same for rocker panels (16 gauge steel) and other minor rust areas which have been Por 15 and painted.

The minor stuff

-Some new base coat and top exterior paint could make this really fabulous.

-All the rubber should be replaced

-Speedometer works. jerkily but the odometer recently quit.  gas gauge also doesn't work. I have included known good gauges for new owner's replacement

-The left axle is making a clicking noise.   I have supplied a new Porsche axle and the new owner can fix it (4 bolts).

-needs the air hoses

-handbrake works but has a rubber band to make the latch catch

-Right door needs a bit of aligning as does the top

This is a great fun little car that is now rock solid.   I just can't keep it.   Cheap $4500 reserve.   Pretty low reserve for a driving car of this quality.

Needs to go on a transporter since I don't have it licensed or tagged at this time.   I can certainly help with getting it gone.
