The La Grange (Cook County) Illinois Police Department is offering the following vehicle for sale by auction:
2012 Volkswagen Passat S Sedan 4-Door 2. 5L with VERY LOW ORIGINAL MILES OF 14. 84 miles
THIS IS A VILLAGE-OWNED (SEIZED AND FORFEITED) VEHICLE AND MUST BE SOLD ACCORDING TO ILLINOIS LAW; IT MUST BE SOLD IN AN AUCTION-TYPE SETTING SUCH AS EBAY.  THERE IS NO BUY-IT-NOW OPTION.  WE WILL NOT ACCEPT ANY TRADES FOR THIS VEHICLE.  THE VEHICLE IS BEING SOLD AS-IS AND WITH NO EXISTING WARRANTY. NEITHER EXPRESS NOR IMPLIED.  ALL SALES ARE FINAL.  NO PRICE ADJUSTMENTS WILL BE GIVEN.  NO RETURNS WILL BE ACCEPTED.  THIS VEHICLE WILL BE SOLD TO THE HIGHEST BIDDER AFTER THE STARTING PRICE HAS BEEN SATISFIED.  THERE IS NO RESERVE ON THIS VEHICLE.
POSITIVES:1.  The vehicle is among the newest vehicles we have ever offered for sale!2.  The vehicle has ONLY 14. 84 original miles. 3.  After seizing the vehicle. it has been stored inside (seized August 2013). 4.  We hold CLEAR title to the vehicle. provided at the sale to the winning bidder with a Bill Of Sale. 5.  CARFAX shows no issues with the vehicle. 6.  Nadaguides. com lists the vehicle at: average=$14. 25. clean trade in=$15. 25. and clean retail=$18. 75  (we believe the vehicle is valued between two higher amounts. 7.  The vehicle is front wheel drive. a 4 door. uses regular unleaded gas. and has tires in good condition. 8.  The vehicle has air conditioning. heat. power windows. power locks. power mirrors. AM/FM stereo with CD player. Bluetooth ready. iPod input in center storage console. manual folding mirrors. lighted visors with mirrors. lighted glove box. cruise control. hands free telephone controls on steering wheel. keyless entry with remote fob. sport mode. and two 12V inputs in the front passenger area. 9.  The vehicle has cup holders in the front and rear. center console storage. sunglasses holder. adjustable head rests. adjustable steering wheel. spare tire and jack. and alloy wheels. 10.  The tires are Continental tires. #215/60R16 95T in good condition. 11.  The vehicle is equipped with driver and passenger air bags. both front and side. 12.  There are no warning/trouble indicator lights illuminated on the dash.  The vehicle starts. runs. and drives VERY well.  It will need a new battery. however. 13.  ALL lights. lamps. signals. wipers. horn. and all other electronic functions of the vehicle all appear to be in good working order. 14.  The interior and exterior are in VERY good condition. with the exception of one dent on the exterior-see photograph (minor). 15.  The vehicle manual is in the glove box. 16.  Again. this vehicle is one of the best we have offered for sale!
NEGATIVES:1.  The vehicle will need a new battery.  We have to jump it every time to start it because the battery is dead. 2.  As with all of our vehicles for sales. we ALWAYS recommend that you check all of the following (however. everything appears to be in good working order so far):  have the brakes checked. change the oil. change the transmission fluid. get a tune up.  We always recommend these services due to the vehicle being in storage for the past couple of years. 3.  There is a scrape/minor dent in the driver's side front 1/4. 4.  We were notified of two outstanding recalls on the vehicle; one for the steering wheel clock spring and another for the Takata driver front air bag.  The winning bidder can take the vehicle to any dealer and have the repairs made FREE OF CHARGE. 5.  Lastly. some rusty water dripped on the roof of the vehicle (see photographs).  A good detail shop may be able to get the spots out-unknown.  The vehicle was washed at a local car wash. but will need to go to a better car wash so the interior/exterior can be properly cleaned.
MAINTENANCE RECORDS:Due to the vehicle being a seized and forfeited vehicle. we do not know anything about it's previous history or maintenance records.  The vehicle does appear to be in very good condition and the last owner only owned the vehicle for a very short time before it got seized.  Again. we ordered a CARFAX on the vehicle. which showed no issues.
