This particular 911 carrera 3. o targa was delivered on valentine days 1976 via Charles Follet ltd. London to its first owner.
The specifications. as delivered from the factory. were: Grandprix white exterior Black interior. vinyl. The interior seats were recovered in Bridge of Weir leather from day 1 by the director of the upholstery business which bought the car. 5 speed Radio pre-wiring Rear wiper Forged alloys wheels Black “carrera” script on the sides
This being a carrera 3 of model year 1976 means it has the quick ratio gearbox (911/44). no servo assisted brakes. and a kerb weight of 1170 kgs. The vehicle comes with copies of all bills and MOT certificates since 1979. detailed photos and a list of owners obtained from the DVLA and the original manual and service booklet.
The car is registered at the worldwide register for this model at http://911carrera3. com
7 subsequent owners followed. bestowing an engine rebuild in 1985. 1986. and a full body restoration in 1996. I purchased the car on my 30th birthday in 2005. and by that time it had gained the appearance of an SC sport (teatray spoiler) but with Boge shockers front and rear and a lot of soundproofing in order to make the car somewhat more comfortable.
In May 2005 (Mileage 132000) I took the car off the road in order to have the engine completely rebuild (barrels. istons. big ends. 2 camshafts. valve train. )and brought it back on the road in May 2006. It passed its MOT with flying colours. but the body was showing details that I didn't like. In September 2007 (mileage 148800) I decided that a tidying up was needed.
It is never as easy as that. and a full body strip. jigging.  a considerable amount of new panels  (2 front wings. impact bumper support brackets in both inner wings. tank support panels (inner/outer) battery tray. A posts. scuttle panel.  windscreen bottom corner repair. kidney bowls. outer sills. oor skins. B posts. and repair panels underneath the targa roll over hoop.
The paint was removed with respect of the galvanisation and new Original Porsche panels were used throughout. A quality repaint (140 hours of pre-paint preparation). as well as a repaint of the engine and bootlid compartment was undertaken. The engine and gearbox went to Specialist Mike Bainbridge for a check over and set up.
The targa roof was recovered (inner headliner. outer cover).  a set of 1976 Recaro Sport seats were imported from Switzerland. which were recovered in top quality hand stitched leather . the car was build up with new rubbers throughout and the brightwork was replaced with a mix of powdercoated and black anodised brightwork.
The suspension components such as A arms. rear torsion arms and various fittings were powdercoated or replaced with new zinc anodised items. As the car was original a sport. I sourced a set of Carrrera 2. 7 A- arms made for bilstein shock absorbers. The steering rack was overhauled and ancillary components were checked. overhauled or replaced. in order to create a “fresh bottom line”.
The car passed its mot and I hardly took it out as it was a bit too perfect and “nicely nicely done”- I like to drive my cars. An oil leak from one of the oil lines and a pin hole in the oil tank necessitated the removal and replacement of these components. The car passed its MOT again at 150 300 miles without any advisories.
After a considerable amount of research I have added Wevo engine and gearbox mounts. a Wevo gearshifter. and a carbon fibre front bumper blade and a rear GRP bumper blade in the original look. Overall. the car weighs in at 1065 kgs. which makes it a brisk performer. Its the driver that is the heavyweight now.
The car was featured twice in the specialised Porsche press: Issue 7 of Classic Porsche magazine. as well as Issue 225 of 911& Porsche World: both about the Carrera 3 model history and buyers guides about the model.
The car is clear on the HPI accident register.
And so we come to the reason for selling: I am starting a new job in Cumbria and I would need to sell some assets for a deposit for a 3rd property: It is the recession after all. Furthermore. I need a car which doesn't ruin my day when it gets a stone chip. a car park dent. This one is a bit too precious now. I hope it finds a deserving home with a collector who will bestow the due care. maintenance upkeep and occasional long outing.
I will endevour to deliver the car to a private individual with all eventual snags attended to. either in the original specification or with the lightweight bits/wevo pieces taken off and brought back to original specification. A pre purchase inspection I would most welcome but please bear in mind that I run the worldwide Carrera 3 register at http://911carrera3. com and as such have spend many an hour researching about these particular cars.  A deposit would be required to show firm commitment.

The insurance valuation stands at £34000. and since 2005 I have spend £40 000 to bring the car to its current condition.
The car is photographed with a set of 7 and 8 x 15 fuchs wheels in the RSR specification. The car can be delivered with a choice of wheels: ATS cookie cutters. 7& 8 x 15 in black (as per delivery) 7& 8 x 15 in RSR spec. 6 &7 x 16. 7 & 8 x 16. you could choose to have the car delivered with its original front and rear spoilers. sports seats or standard seats. in short: this is a little bit like walking into a Porsche dealer and specifying how you would like your car. I'm open and accommodating to the wishes of the purchaser.
As I run the worldwide register. I have contacts in most RHD markets. As such. I'm happy to entertain foreign market enquiries and assist with preparing the car for shipping. Finally. most likely this car will feature in the 200 + porsche auction at Anglian Car Auctions http://www. angliacarauctions. co. uk/news/posts/2013/may/porsche-collection-uncovered. aspx to open up the car to a wider audience than the online eBay browsers.
