1935 Ford Other

The Story:Third generation family owned "farm" car. We received it from my wife's family were her great uncle used it on the farm in the central valley. Her Aunt then drove it back and forth to school. It got a "makeover" in the 70's. hence the yellow exterior and the floral vinyl interior. My father-in-law bought it in the early 70's with the intention of fixing it up and it sat in a barn until we took ownership in 2010. We put some initial investment (see below) to get it up and running again and have taken it out on the occasional weekend ever since. all original TTBOMK. and drives great. We don't have the inclination to make the next financial investment to improve the car and we don't have the DIY skills that would keep it from costing a fortune and so with some reluctance we offer it for sale to someone who can do something great with it.  
Our Initial Investment:When we pulled the car out of the barn it had 4 flat tires and had not been started in 35+ years. We took it in for a first level restoration to "make it road worthy". Exterior:Take a look at the photos of the exterior; it was painted yellow and is a bit faded. Many scrapes but very little rust. CA car its whole life. Glass is all in good shape. one rear window has a BB gun ding in it.  We had the front grill and windshield frame re-chromed in the initial investment. Looks great!The windshield cranks out easily. the door glasses roll up and down easily and the back windows roll up and down but stick a little. The cowl vent opens easily. We had the wheels painted green in anticipation of a full paint job. New whitewall tires at the time of initial restoration investment.  Both bumpers are nice. all of the trim. head lights and spare tire carrier are all in great shape. The head lights work on low and high beam and are operated by the original switch on the steering wheel. Horn works great.  Interior:Dashboard is original gun metal gray.  Seats were recovered in the 80's with a vinyl floral pattern. We had seat belts installed so the kids could ride in it.  New Floor Mat and insulationDoor panels are ok and covered in yellow vinylSteering wheel has a crackSpeedometer bounces but appears to workWipers do not workDrivetrain:Tough start from completely cold (5-6 cranks). Once warm it turns over easily.  All numbers matching. Drives well with quite a bit of play in the wheel; falls out of Second (upper right position) if there's to much vibration.  Suspension:It still has all of the original leaf springs and straight axle under the car and look to be in great shape. The car still has the original mechanical brakes and stops the car well but are very different from modern cars.  The car is a blast to drive. We only took it out on the weekends and have put less than 400 miles on it since we've owned it. We drive it around town. on city streets. expressways and highways and it keeps up. Feels like 50 MPH is it's top speed but maybe you're more daring with old mechanicals than I.  We've driven it for less than a mile on the freeway at a time but I wouldn't make a habit of it. Also not sure how it would do pulling over a mountain pass. as good as they did originally is my guess but I've never tried.  The car is listed for sale locally and I reserve the right to remove it from auction at any time. I think I also have the "farm package" from the dealer which was a fender mounted spotlight to see the levees in the orchards in the early morning hours. Note. I totally forgot to mention. there could be an electrical drain. Since reserve has not yet been met I will assume anyone bidding after this has seen this update. As I mentioned in the description we hardly ever drive this. but for some reason this year the battery dies if I don't start it up regularly. I just replaced it with a brand new battery and I've taken to just disconnecting it so I don't have to worry about draining. Hook up the battery and it starts right up. Thanks.
