My personal preference are "unrestored". original cars they are becoming more and more rare in the Collector car market. The old car hobby is headed in the direction of fine art. decorative arts and antique furniture. where a premium is placed on originality and where refinishing or altering a well preserved example can have a negative effect on value.
"Preservation re-creation". this car was built in a factory and as such the fit and finish is remarkable. All the bits and pieces have worn wonderfully and are consistent to a garaged vehicle over 50 years of age. I added small details. I found a original luggage rack in Pennsylvania from a nice fellow who wrecked his real 356. I added a 1959 California Highway Patrol Safety Inspection sticker. The result is a collaboration of pitted chrome and worn rubber. paint that still holds a shine but has just the correct amount of flaws to make you wonder". "is it real?".
"Reliability": "A complete mechanical rehab was commissioned. nbsp;currently less than 100 miles on engine!" I wanted a car that started up instantly. and that was devoid of the normal "maintenance issues". Modern electronic ignition has been installed in the 1600 Dual Port Motor. additionally German balanced pistons and dual 40mm ported Webers were utilized to create a reliable freeway daily driver that is also economical. My Porsche is very in-expensive to maintain and also full covered under USAA Collector Car Insurance at $295. (per year)!
