Not only did they produce more usable low-end power. they were proven to be far more reliable and easy to maintain. However. this unique model was strictly a U. S. model. and as a result only 1. 44 coupes were ever built. This Porsche was built in March of 1973. It was purchased new at a local Southern California Porsche dealer on September 24th. 1973. It was ordered with the following options from the factory: US Equipment Forged Alloy Wheels (Fuchs) Stabilizer Bars – Front and Rear Manual Antenna (Left w/Front) Loudspeaker & Noise Suppression Comfort Equipment Tinted Glass All Around Dunlop tires The original owner kept the car for a little over 4-years before selling it to the 2nd local owner on January 18th. 1978. This owner lived in Orange County and was a Porsche enthusiast. During his ownership. he performed a full engine rebuild (1988/60k-miles ago). The rebuild was done by a respected Southern California Porsche specialist and included the following: New bearings Chain rails. timing chains. and chain tensioners New pistons and cylinders from Porsche New valves and guides (grind valve seats) New clutch kit. throw out bearing and resurface flywheel Oil return tubes All new fuel and oil lines Magnaflux and polish crankshaft Rebuild connecting rods and balance Align and bore case with case inserts Install timesert and oil cooler New case studs Resurface heads New fuel pump In total. $12. 00 was invested on this engine build. which is over $25. 00 in today's dollars. This owner kept the car for nearly 30-years. Shortly after selling his it in 2006. it went through a cosmetic refurbishment. which included: New fuel tank Replace front suspension pan New rubber seals Full glass-out repaint Restore front seats Restore dashboard The current owner purchased this 911 on January 23rd. 2007 with around 174. 00 miles. For the past 10-years/6k-miles. this owner has primarily used the car as a weekend cruiser. Highlights of recent/significant services while in his care include: Shifter bushing and new shift kit Replace fuse boxes Steel brake lines and restore brake calipers Replace front wheel bearings and seals Install turbo tie rod kit New motor mounts Replace CV boots New stainless steel muffler Replace oil lines 3-point retractable belts for rear seats H4 European headlights Replaced front bumper deco (remove DOT rubber bumper horns) Over the last 9-years/7k-miles. well over $25. 00 was invested in this Porsche to make it a well-sorted driver. Upon the owner bringing us the car to sell on consignment. we had our local Porsche expert go through the car to give us a current condition update. He said. overall. the car is in very good condition and generally well cared for. The engine is very healthy with excellent leakdown (% off of 100%)/compression results: (1) 155/1% (2) 145/1% (3) 145/1% (4) 150/1% (5) 150/2% (6) 145/6% The condition of this car is a very nice survivor-driver. It is clear that it has always been a well cared for Southern California car. The bottom is very dry with no signs of rust. The floors are original in their factory finish. The engine is pretty dry with just some slight oil weeping from the left lower valve cover. The front suspension pan has been replaced as well as the front left fender (minor incident by 2nd owner when parking). There are no signs of damage or anything else in the trunk area (see pics). It was strictly superficial. The paint looks very nice and shines up well. It was a quality glass-out repaint about 10-years ago in the correct factory original color. It's been about 7k-miles since the repaint and there are minimal signs of use. The chrome trim is all-original and in good shape with minor scratches from age. The Fuchs are in very good condition. They are wearing older Michelin tires with more than 75% life remaining. There are no cracks. The brake pads have over half-life remaining. but the rotors (although no lips) are older and probably should be replaced soon. The interior is very good condition. The seats have no tears. rips. or cracks. The dash is also free of cracks or warping (hairline crack on speaker grill). The headliner has a small tear by the driver side rear (see pic). The original door panels/pockets are in nice condition with just light signs of wear. The carpet is original and in generally good condition for the age with some normal expected wear on the driver side (see pic). The door thresholds have been fitted with engine turned metal pieces commonly installed by the dealer when new. This is very typical of Southern California delivered Porsches during the early 1970's. All the glass is original and in very good condition (including the windscreen). The gauges work properly except for the clock. The original Blaupunkt radio works as well. This 911 drives really nice. It fires up easily. even after sitting. We metered the CIS system and it is running fine but a hair on the rich side. The engine bay sound pad has been silicone to prevent from falling and should be replaced soon (see pic). The airbox had been damaged back in the 80's (prior to the engine rebuild). It was repaired with silicon and fitted with a pop-off valve. which was a commonly required fix. The power feels strong and is evident by the excellent leakdown results. The steering response is spot on and tracks nicely. The brakes feel good with excellent pedal pressure. The 915 gearbox shifts smoothly with no synchro issues. Overall. this is a Porsche that would be excellent for long distance vintage touring events or even your local shows. California registration is current and paid through June of 2017. This Porsche includes the owner's manual red cover (no owner's manual). tool kit. spare Fuch. original blue CA license plates. battery tender (installed). an extra key. Porsche COA. and most records going back to the 1980's including the engine build.
