This 1965 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu could almost pass sunny day classic. That is if you don't spot the side exhaust. extra wide rear tires. and custom bulge in the hood that's hiding the performance built 383 stroker V8. In fact. as you look over all the race-ready parts in this hardtop. you'll be surprised you can get it all for such an affordable price.


This Malibu is all about what you see on the second glance. After all. the first impression is just a nice looking red classic coupe with nice looking brightwork. But then maybe you notice how the hood has a subtle bulge. Or maybe you deiced to take a closer look at the pinstripes. and then realize they are actually little flames running the full-length of the Chevelle's body and highlighting the subtle curves. And we even bet you'll love the Rally wheels. so you might also notice that the rear ones have been modified to hold the massive 13x18. 5 Hoosier tires. All of this makes for a very cool speed machine that can fly under the radar (as long as no one hears the thunderous side pipes. )


Just like the exterior. the interior's first impression is all about a nice classic. The black vinyl interior carries the premium Malibu trim and patterns. And you'll love that this is a bucket seat car with a center console. But then you look at the end of that bright middle strip and you spot the Hurst Quarter Stick. Once again. you realize this is much more than just a cool cruising classic. You'll slip behind the three-spoke wood rimmed steering wheel. which gives you a clear view at the large gauge package in directly in front. Plus. the trio of auxiliary readouts under the dash give you a constant and clear picture of what's going on with the monster in the engine bay.


Just in case you were not already sure this Malibu was out for blood. just lift the hood. The glowing red breather and valve covers against the black engine bay really radiate power. This is a 383 cubic-inch stroker V8 that's be upgraded with a steel crank. TRW dome pistons (11:1). Camp Cams hydraulic cam. HEI distributor. Holley 750 CFM four-barrel carburetor. and Edelbrock Victor. Jr. intake. The V8 exhales through Hedman headers that add power and thunder to the three-inch dual exhaust. Making sure you can use this power to its fullest is a new TH350 three-speed automatic transmission with TCI 3500 RPM stall converter. And that's feeding a stout Ford 9-inch rear end with a 4. 11 ratio for power take-offs. Up front is power steering and front disc brakes. And making sure all that rubber says on the road is a ladder bar rear suspension with coilovers. Plus. the rear body has been tubbed to make room for the extra wide wheels. and so now there's a fuel cell in the trunk along with the battery for better weight distribution.


We haven't even gone over all the upgrades that make this a serious machine for the street and strip (call for all the details. ) But you already know how much it would cost for you to do it all yourself. and how amazingly affordable this Malibu is.
