1973 CORVETTE AUTO T-TOP.

This honestly is a real opportunity for someone to get on the chrome bumper C3 ladder without spending a fortune. This '73 has been owned by one elderly guy for the past 20 years and is only for sale now as he had to give up his storage.

This car is a genuine factory L82 car and some years ago the guy had a brand new crate 260 horse 4-bolt mains engine shipped over and installed. I can advise exactly which specialist carried out the work and his name will be given to the new owner. After driving the car home with the new engine and doing a couple of shows. due to ill health the car was never taken back out of the garage until now. Would you believe the mileage on the new crate motor is little over 300 miles ! 

I have to give thanks to PAUL ALLEN at  LINCOLNSHIRE CORVETTES for his time and efforts re-commissioning the car and I cannot praise his workmanship enough. A proper Corvette guy without the attitude often found elsewhere. definitely the guy to call. The car is now on the key with all new service parts. battery. coil. plugs. oils. filters etc.

INTERIOR.           All original and in really good shape throughout. Seats. door cards. armrests. dashboard. consoles. rear compartments etc. all really nice.  Good to see the original factory radio still in place.  Amazing as it may seem. the whole of this Corvette's interior appears to be the one it left the factory with. and it's all still in fine shape. I think even the carpets seem to be the original ones and it doesn't look like the seats have ever been out. Time warp or what? The original factory steering wheel is still as new. It looks like the car has had a full weatherstrip set at some stage. I say that only because they're all so new. Nice to see the car has the quite rare rear window demister option fitted.  So overall a really tight. uptogether interior to be proud of.

MECHANICS.       A brand new h/d battery has just been fitted and the engine starts first time and runs well. The box is smooth with no apparent leaks showing. not even from the power steering.   The car has a virtually brand new aluminized chambered exhaust throughout which I'm told cost the best parts of £700 from Ecklers. The headlamps are very slow to lift. if at all. but I see the car has already had new actuators so it should take little to get them rolling.  There was a brake pedal when I collected the car but it's all but gone now. Believe it or not the handbrake is excellent. I've had all the wheels off and it looks like it's had stainless calipers as well as all new rotors. and they all look fine  The m/cylinder looks recent and both pots are full so I think it's just sucked some air through standing. so some work there. The complete frame looks to be in a really sound dry condition with no sign of rust etc. The car really is a first time starter that ticks over well and revs like it should.

EXTERIOR.          Finished in Corvette Dark Blue. the car looks stunning. especially with the Medium Saddle interior. The car may look black in the pictures but I assure you it's the darkest shade of blue possible. On the whole the paintwork is superb and the body is super straight. There's some fine microing on the tops of both front fenders. but nowhere else from what I see. The correct rally rims are all shod with all matching Cooper Cobras. I'd guess all about 6mm.   The chrome centre caps and outer trims all look to be new. The windscreen and side windows are all superb. Good chrome to mirrors. emblems. rear bumpers. door handles etc.

AND NOW THE FAULTS.   The car has been reversed with the driver's door open and the end of the door struck the garage door frame ( valeter now sacked!) This sild the door forward on it's hinges slightly with resulting damage to the leading edge of the door where it struck the rear of the front fender. No apparent damage to the front fender. No apparant damage anywhere else. but the interior door panel now needs stripping off to get to the hinge bolts. and then it wants adjusting back in to position. At the moment it won't shut!  Other than that the car has some of the usual nose cone crazing to sort out plus the other couple of jobs previously mentioned.

So that's about it. a genuine 1973 Corvette with a super sharp body. good paintwork. really excellent interior and frame. on the key with a crate 260 horse Goodwrench engine that's yet to be run in. Yes there are jobs to do. but for the right guy this car really is an opportunity. With the door fixed. the brakes bled and the lights lifting. this car should be way up there in the £12. 00 plus bracket.

IN AUCTION WITH A STARTING PRICE OF £4750.  

That really is only an auction starting price. I wouldn't be surprised if this car didn't do between £6500/£7500. but make no mistake. it's on sale after £4750. I describe my car's correctly and this is no exception. Yes. there are the jobs to do. but other than sorting out the nose cone & door.  they're very much home garage jobs. This car really will come together to make a stunning '73 Vette. Not only that. chrome bumper C3 prices seem to be shooting up every time I look. This car is so super straight. unmollested and genuine. it really does deserve someone who has the time and space to sort the few issues out.
