1966 Ford Mustang for sale
Current customer rating: (119 votes ) based onSelling a beautiful award winning 1966 Mustang that has gone through a complete restoration. This car has won several awards to include local shows in North Carolina. where I purchased it form a guy out of Raleigh. East Texas and even took First Place. 1964-1996 Mustang Coupe Class. in a “Mustang Club of America Regional Car Show”. This is a very beautiful car that has been immaculately built and cared for. This car has very minimum body filler and has been painted a an amazing Metallic Black.
There are only a couple of things left to be done to the car. a new Windshield wiper switch and wire harness. Windshield washer pump and harness and a parking break cables.
Besides the pictures speaking for themselves. this car has been gone through bumper to bumper and the following is an extensive list of what has been done to the car. As you can see. you can't build this car for what I am selling it for! Don't Miss This opportunity!!
INTERIOR
All new leather interior to include matching headliner.
New door panels and dash
New seat trim. door sills and seat belts
New carpet
Dyno mat of the interior so she is much quieter inside
5 speaker system with new head unit and hidden antenna. 5” Front Kenwood 3 ways. 6x9 Rear Sony Explodes and 1 12” Punch Sub with 500 Watt Amp
I restored the dash cluster by polishing the gauge cluster glass and painting the gauge needles for better visibility. I also changed the dash lights to LED for a brighter dash and so less power is being pulled through the system.
ELECTRICAL
ALL WIRING HAS BEEN Fixed. All wiring is original to the car. it has been removed entirely. cleaned. repaired and new connectors where needed. I installed relay systems to ensure that the newer style halogen head lights are getting proper power and therefore this car does not do the whole thing where the lights pulsate to the beat of the engine at idle. Tail lights have been properly upgraded to LED and proper resistors have been added to ensure power balance in the car/
Under the Dash are two fresh air vents in these cars that are prone to leak. These have been replaced with new ABS Plastic Vents that will not leak and rust.
BRAKES AND TIRES
NO POWER BRAKES
I converted this car to a 4-disc brake car that has slotted and ported disc brakes.
Upgraded brake reservoir from an OEM single reservoir to a duel reservoir. This was done for safety reasons in case there is a brake line failure. you will not lose all braking.
I installed a brake proportioning valve so you can balance breaking power to the rear or to prevent the rear brakes locking up
16 “American racing rims with 225/55R/16 Good Year Fierce Instinct VRs
REAR END
The rear Axle was completely taken apart. sand blasted and painted. I changed out the 2:80 gears to 3:25 Gear with a Yukon Posi-Trac along with new bearings and seals.
Along with a complete rear end rebuild and upgrade. I installed the following: New leaf springs with a 1” drop. new shocks. and Concourse Correct Traction bars. I also have a new GT Rear Sway Bar kit that has not been installed yet. This will come with the car and all you must do is have the left tail pipe moved over 4” so there is the clearance for install. I have not had time to get to this yet and this is a common requirement for this upgrade.
I also installed tie down loops for the rear Axle perches. This allows you to safely secure it to a trailer without damaging brake lines
FRONT END
The front sway bar has been upgraded to the GT 1” instead of the standard ¾”
Complete front end rebuild. to include ball joints. tie rods and all bushings.
Up graded the front springs to a lowered Sport spring but had to shim it up 1” because of rubbing. I used correct Polypropylene Spring shims. I added a Monte Carlo Bar to stiffen up the front end.
I had the original steering gear box rebuilt and is a dream going down the road (not power steering)
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The car originally had the 3 speed C4 transmission but I just changed it out to a professionally rebuilt Ford Top Loader 4 speed manual trans. (about 500 miles on it) With Hurst Shifter
I was able to find an 11” Fly wheel and clutch set up. This car grabs every time. The original size was 9. 5”
Now to the engine (only about 1500 miles on it)
I took the original 289 and stripped it down to the block. I did a complete rebuild with a near zero deck. Flat top pistons with valve cut outs and bored it . 30 over stock.
I am running 6:1 roller rockers on top of Eddle Brock E-Street aluminum heads
I purchased the complete E-Street kit that came with timing chain. heads. valves. springs. Cam and intake is you want every spec
I put a holly 650 CFM double pumper that matches this engine perfectly.
I I am using a Pertronix Flame thrower distributor. ignition coil and Custom length Spark Plug Wires.
I changed over to a aluminum 3 core radiator with electric fan and a 160 degree thermostat to help protect the engine on those hot days.
This car has the Scott Drake Y headers that feed dual Magna flow 30 series. I changed out the rear valance with a GT so the exhaust comes out of the rear valance instead of underneath and it has the correct GT louvered exhaust tips
