1976 FORD ESCORT RS2000

                       1976 MK2 FORD ESCORT RS2000

For sale is my 1976 mk2 RS2000.

I have owned the vehicle for the last 7 years and has always been garaged and only taken out in dry weather.

The car is registered with the RS owners club reg no. 42663 and was verified by the RS2000 registrar back in 2006.

The car was first registered to an RAF officer at RAF Alconbury and was sold around 2004 from Classic Marks in Norfolk.

Unfortunately most of the original service history has been lost prior to 2004 but I have plenty of reciepts from then and have full printouts of all history  held by the DVLA. Previous MOT'S are present for about the last 10 years.

Car has been through two number plate changes as was on a private reg. in the late eighties.

Just had MOT done this week so is tested untl April 2014. road tax currently on SORN but can be taxed at buyers expense.

V5 log book present.

This is a lovely example of a working RS2000. Obviously the vehicle is 37 years old so does have a few marks here and there. Has a couple of minor rust marks at the bottom of the rear window seal and a few minor spots here and there. Boot in very good condition and boot spoiler in excellent condition with no chunks missing.

Vinyl roof in very good condition and general bodywork all good apart from some light pitting in places under the paintwork. Passenger door has dropped very slightly so needs readjustment. Interior in lovely condition. o rips or tears in seats or upholstery and still got original hooks for attaching rally seatbelts at rear of front seats. Fuel gauge gone a bit inaccurate of late for some reason but all other gauges working fine and oil pressure good.

Original 2. 0l pinto engine fitted with strut brace and K&N filter. Drives lovely with plenty of power and gearbox sound in all gears. There is a slight flat spot around 2500 rpm and mechanic suggested carb could do with a service. Just had new distibutor cap. oints. eads. oil. lugs. ome old wiring replaced. ew wiper relay and starter motor and lead overhauled last year. Car is fitted with a Janspeed exhaust.

Engine bay could do with some TLC. I had planned to have engine removed to tidy and respray under bonnet but never seem to have time.

MOT had one advisory recommending a good wire brush and waxoyl to the chassis as signs of slight corrosion are visible.

The car is a rear pleasure to drive and handles like a dream. There are bits on the vehicle that are not original to when the car was built but vehicle is not concourse and have never bothered me enough to replace.

I have had the car to shows and rallies and it's a real head turner. getting hard to find these nowadays.

This is a lovely example of a rare classic and I would highly recommend veiwing prior to bidding. The car is 37 years old and not in concourse condition. Unfortunately I don't have the time to spend on her now due to work commitments.
