Restoration just completed on this beautiful 1979 Z/28. It was repainted in the original code 11 white paint and new blue stripes from Phoenix Graphix were added as it was when it left the factory. The tail lights. side marker lights. turn signals and hood hinges have been replaced with new units. New door and trunk weather stripping and window scrapers were replaced after the car was painted. The black interior was redone with new door panels. seat covers. headliner. package tray. carpet. door sils. window handles. eschotons. shifter plate. lock knobs and dash cap from Classic Industries. The gear selector is a factory installed ratchet shifter. The stereo is a Pioneer Super Tuner that was professionally restored and an iPod input added. It is very hard to find a car of this year that has not had the Radio opening cut for a din radio. The speakers are new Pioneer 6X9's in the package tray. Engine: 350 (5. 7) V8. The motor was rebuilt and has less than 100 miles. When the motor was rebuilt the heads were upgraded to Camelback 1. 94" which were used on 1968-1972 Corvettes and a stainless steel bolt kit was used. The cam was also upgraded and it has a nice slight lope at idle. The transmission is a freshly rebuilt turbohydromatic 350 (automatic) and the differential has 3:23 ratio gears. Brand new KYB shocks all the way around. The battery is a new Delco 78 series with original style reproduction battery cables from American Auto Wire. The original valve covers were chromed as they are a thicker metal than the new units. The 4 row radiator has been rebuilt and the water pump. thermostat. belts and hoses are new. The Carburetor was rebuilt at BFIC and the fuel pump is new. The master cylinder. radiator over flow container and windshield fluid container are new. The gas tank was boiled out and a new sending unit was installed. The car has the original pancake cat and exhaust but I replaced the mufflers with Dynomax units that have a nice subtle rumble. The wheels are Cragar 17 X 8's with Nitto 555's tires that are 245/45/17 in the front and 275/40/17 in the rear.   The trunk has had a fresh coat of trunk paint and new trunk mat under the space saver spare tire. I purchased this car from a good friend and it has not been registered since 1992. It was almost like finding a car in a time capsule when we restored it. I normally restore Trans Ams as you can see from previous auctions but this was the most solid original car I have ever restored. The mileage on the odometer is 54738 but the title has 154k The car has an Arizona title and I understand that when a car is over 10 years old they assume it has passed 100k. I believe the mileage is only 54k based on the condition of the driver's door hinges and brake pedal rubber. This is an amazing vehicle and was entered in the Super Run car show and drew a constant crowd.
