1959 Chevrolet 3100 Fleetside Apache

After a wonderful 5 year ownership. it is time for me to thin the herd! I've enjoyed this amazing 1959 Chevy Apache and can say that it's one of the sweetest. smoothest vintage trucks I have owned---and I have owned numerous old trucks!

The Apache. known affectionately as "Ol Henry" was fully restored about 15 years ago. There are a few small scratches here and there but overall. Ol' Hank is solid as a tank and still a most pristine old fella.

Not quite a show car anymore. but definitely not a hard core "user" truck. Ol' Henry fits that great niche of an appreciating classic that you can use daily or reserve time with him on those lazy Sunday drives.

He will absolutely take you anywhere you need to go---the 235 6 cylinder engine hums like a sewing machine. Everything on this truck is sorted out and works perfectly. He runs cool even on the hottest day. I would not hesitate to drive this truck anywhere.

The Sherwood Green color is simply amazing and is a high-level paint job. complementing the high-level restoration.

My Apache has been in Hawaii the last three years. but as I live in a very dry region (dry side of the Big Island) it has not been affected by rust and is in fact. rust free. with the exception of very light surface rust on the front grill.

The underside is perfect. the hubcaps perfect. all other chrome perfect. Again. everything works on this truck right down to the old tube radio! It needs no sorting out of any kind---ready and raring to go!

In fact. I recently (4 months ago) spent 1k on brand new BF Goodrich All terrain truck tires and a year ago had all new shocks installed. He runs smooth and proud down the road and tracks dead-straight and stops on a dime---though drum brakes are certainly not like new disc brakes so plan a few extra feet before hitting that dime!

Shipping to the West Coast via Matson is hassle free and about $1. 00. 00 to major ports. I can help coordinate any shipping!

****Feel free to text or call with any questions. Serious bidders only. please. I do not want to trade this truck for your Mother-in-Law or a rusty lawnmower.

Please respect this as a quality classic. Do your homework and check the NADA price guides for a 1959 Chevy Apache 3100. You will find my reserve is priced well below current value guides. It's time to part ways with Ol Henry but I won't give him away. so please keep the low ball offers to yourself!

*This truck to be listed locally. as such. I reserve the right to cancel auction.

BELOW PLEASE ENJOY A LITTLE HISTORY LESSON ON THE 59 APACHE:

Fewer remember that in 1959 Chevrolet built its seven-millionth truck. including this Apache Fleetside pickup. part of the "Task Force" fleet. Chevrolet pickups had been growing more civilized.

In 1955. the Cameo Carrier had led Chevy forcefully into the sporty pickup race; in mid-1958 the Cameo was succeeded by the Fleetside. which applied its principle of full-width rear body styling to a more moderately priced truck.

Designed mainly to rival the slick Ford Styleside line. the Fleetside's chief design feature was its "jet pod" side sculpture. terminating in round taillamps. It had the usual payload ratings. double-wall steel cargo box. and an ultra-wide tailgate.

Conventional narrow-box pickups continued under the Stepside label. but it was the stylish Fleetside that generated the sales action. Quad headlamps and bolder grilles had come along in 1958.

The 1959 body showed little change. though it suggested speed by exchanging its jet plane fender badges for missile-shaped pieces. and wore a bolder hood emblem. Two-toning was revised so the color break split along the character line. with upper body color on the chrome-trimmed side sculpturing and lower body color on rear cab roof posts.

Power came from the veteran 235-cid six or 283-cid V-8.  Transmissions were three-speed with and without overdrive. four-speed. and Hydra-matic. Positraction limited-slip differential was a new option.

Standard wheelbase was still 114 inches. giving a 6. 5-foot bed. but a 123-inch wheelbase with 8. 3-foot bed was optional. Ford had the edge. with a full nine-foot box available.

Enhancing this sturdy-looking pickup were unitized cab construction. a 1000-square-inch wraparound windshield. 18-inch steering wheel. coil-spring seats. and face-level ventilation.

"These. said Chevy. "are the best-looking truck cabs that ever came down the road!"
