Easily restorable long bonnet 911 Porsche 911T Sportomatic 1971 This item has been relisted because of an error on my part. At present the car is a position where it is difficult for us to examine thoroughly the underside of the car where. possibly. there may some corrosion on a section of the floorpan. I have relisted on a 10 day auction. which will give sufficient time to examine the car and subsequently post pictures detailing it. Please accept my apologies to those of you who have either contacted me regarding the car. or who were kind enough to put bids on it. Please watch this space for updates…….
Recently imported from Florida. All duties paid. Once restored this car simply needs an MOT and then a straightforward application to DVLA for registration. It will be given an age-related plate.

You are looking at a 1971 Porsche 911T that has been in storage for 20 years. It has 77K original miles. This car was sold new in Daytona Beach. Florida back in 1971. The original color is burgundy. This is an air-conditioned car. It is a Sportomatic which functions correctly. The motor runs. The interior needs to be restored. Mostly complete - an update shortly will confirm. This not a rusty car!  A little surface corrosion in a couple spots but that's all (please see note above regarding floor pans).

This car can be viewed (and should be. if you are a serious bidder) at pretty much anytime - just call Darren on 07836 734477

Please note that. due to bitter experience of time-wasters. any bids from ebayers with less than 10 feedback will be automatically removed unless they call me first…….

OK. so I have now had a chance to examine this car more thoroughly. and I'm able to confirm the following: The car does have corrosion in the floorpans. particularly on the left hand side. Additionally. the car has had previous floorpan work done that really needs to be checked and possibly re-done. Obviously. to those in the know. fitting complete floorpans is not too difficult a job and. were we to be doing the car ourselves. that would be the route we would go. However. the corrosion could be dealt with on an ad-hoc basis whereby there could be individual repairs to individual areas - the choice is the buyer's to make… There is also a small area of rust in the rear of the underside. again on the left hand side. effectively in the curve that is formed between the floor itself and the engine firewall. There is also corrosion in the front underside panel. just forward of the fuel tank. where the front of the suspension arms are bolted into place. This once again is a very common area of corrosion and what is clear on this car is that it has been tackled (and tackled well). but only halfway. Essentially this front section is made up of two panels. one upper that is viewable only from inside the bonnet. and one lower that is visible only from underneath the car. The upper one has been replaced it would appear. whereas the lower one hasn't yet. Again. those of you with full knowledge of these cars will be aware of the ease of availability and fitment of these panels. I have made three videos that are published on youtube. one showing the underside. one an exterior and interior walkaround and description. and finally one with the engine running. These videos are listed below and I would encourage potential bidders to view them first. Please excuse the poor camerawork and rather wooden delivery of the dialogue - I'm neither Cecil B. DeMille. nor Laurence Olivier (bit of an age test there for you Ladies and Gentlemen - those of you who have said "who??" are doubtless much younger than this car!) Interior: The car essentially needs restoration of the interior. and it's probably best to assume that most things will need replacing. Most of it is there (although. for some reason the seat backs seem to be missing). but most of it is in a fairly poor condition. Exterior: The car is very. very. good externally. There appears to be no corrosion at all in any of the body panels save the drivers door (which is not original to the car). The gaps are good and the overall structure of the car seems excellent. It sits well. albeit on incorrect-for-period wheels (with. I have to say. completely knackered tyres) and appears to have no suspension issues at all. Mechanically: Although we were successful in getting the engine to run. we couldn't get it to drive. I'm not really sure how a Sportomatic transmission works. but we're assuming it has a clutch plate as well as a torque converter. We think that either the clutch plate is stuck (jammed to the flywheel and pressure plate by corrosion) or the vacuum operation of the clutch disengagement system has failed in someway. Either way. we couldn't get it in to gear to test it. The engine itself ran. and sounded very nice. but the carbs definitely need attention as the thing pops and bangs when you try to rev it. Also when we initially tried to start it. stuck floats resulted in fuel being pumped continuously thru the carbs. thereby hydraulic locking and preventing engine turnover. A couple of gentle taps on the side corrected that. but the carbs will definitely need one of the readily available overhaul kits…… Parts missing: Headlamps (it'll need European ones anyway. so the USA spec ones wouldn't have been any good) RHS Rear Quarter Bumper Petrol Flap Correct Wheels Most Interior (it's mostly there. but it'll need replacing) Batteries In summary. even though I've tried to describe the car as well as I can. there is absolutely no substitute for actually viewing the car yourselves. and I encourage you to do so…….
