For Sale is a 1961Citroen 2CV Sahara.  

 

Chassis Number 0139

Engine Numbers AW 05100183 and AW 05100180

Our research indicates that the car was rebodied in Switzerland most likely sometime in the 70's.   It would appear that all the Sahara specific parts were transferred over to a later body at that time.   The Swiss authorities issued the serial number plate.   It is not known if the frame rails are original or replacements.    Both engines and transmissions operate well.   It drives on both engines or one as designed.  

Known issues: 

1.   The rear engine has a bracket welded to the exhaust manifold for the purpose of mounting a later model alternator.   This doesn't affect operation.   It is just an appearance item.

2.   The rear engines original generator is missing.   In the photos the original fan is shown. but to operate the rear engine a later model plastic fan is required. since there is no armature to mount it on.   The front engine charges the battery and the rear engine wiring and regulator are present should you want to restore the rear engine generator.   The plastic fan works fine but is an appearance item.

3.   All of the axle U joint rubber covers are damaged.

4.   The windshield wipers are inoperative.    The armature is shorted.  

5.   Both engines pushrod tube seals leak.   Not enough to affect operation. but makes a mess when parked.   I would guess less than 1 tablespoon per week total leakage.  

Recent work includes:  New tires. clean and adjust entire fuel system from tanks to carburetors.   Replace fuel pump diaphragms and all rubber fuel hoses.   Rebuild brake master cylinder.   Change all fluids and adjust valves.   Replace spark plugs.   New battery.

Of course this is a used car and as such there is no Warranty of any kind offered or implied.
