Here we have a truly beautiful in red Austin Healey 100 6 B-N6 3000 ( 2. 7 ) sports car originally manufactured in England in 1958. one of the most prolific cars ever to be produced. it was 2nd of the 3 Healey models which were known as the 'big' Healey's. br/>
It was introduced in 1956 to replace the Austin-Healey 100.

It featured a 2 in (50. 8 mm) longer wheelbase than the original Austin-Healey 100 and a six-cylinder engine replacing the slightly larger capacity four. and added two occasional seats which later became optional. The body lines were changed to a less rounded appearance. with a wider. lower radiator grille below the air scoop which was added to the bonnet. and a windscreen which was fixed and could no longer be folded down.

There were two model designators. the 2+2 BN4 produced from 1956 onwards and the 2-seat BN6 produced from 1958.

The cars used a tuned version of the BMC C-Series engine previously fitted to the Austin Westminster and which at first produced 102 bhp (76 kW) increasing to 117 bhp (87 kW) in 1957 by fitting a revised manifold and cylinder head. The overdrive unit became an option rather than a standard fitting.

In late 1957 production was transferred from Longbridge to the MG plant at Abingdon.

A 117 bhp (87 kW) BN6 was tested by The Motor magazine in 1959 had a top speed of 103. 9 mph (167. 2 km/h) and could accelerate from 0-60 mph (97 km/h) in 10. 7 seconds. A fuel consumption of 20. 8 miles per imperial gallon (13. 6 L/100 km; 17. 3 mpg-US) was recorded. The test car cost £1307 including taxes of £436.

Having been shipped to America back in 59. the car was a California registered car until 1981. never seen rain. when it was purchased by the previous owner Ned for $4000. From that point onward this car has been in a dry storage garage under a holiday complex for the wealthy in Florida where by there were several other vehicles being kept. When purchased Ned had all the brakes overhauled and had the whole of the underneath covered with a special oil which is why the underneath has been so well preserved.

Having been shipped back to the U. K. I have now had the car converted to English spec for the mot. and for UK registration.

This car starts with a gentle pull on the choke and growls into life. no smoking or noise the engine strong and purring. its tight and perks your ears up when you accelerate and having now owned this car for a few months I can truly appreciate the remarkable condition of this vehicle considering it being 55 years old.

For example. the original leather seats are perfectly intact. still smell good. all the original trims and features are perfect. no cracking or fading. the carpeting is like new throughout and everything is in place as it should be. and because it has never been restored this classic British hand made Sports car still holds onto its original 1950's characteristics.

For any potential future buyer of this car. there are only a few minor things that you could do to make this car even better. for example. there are obvious age related marks and stone chips around the body and even the odd few dents. However. these minor issue's wouldn't disenchant how you would perceive the vehicle. The only road train issue is now and then it jumps out of 2nd gear which if you gently rest your hand on. stays in. and could be easily fixed by replacement of a shaft which would cost you £700 or thereabouts.
