300D 5 Cylinder Non turbo diesel - the original 'berlin taxi' and an engine famous for making doing 1 million miles with ease. (Mercedes send you a W123 presentation pack when you get there)This is the classic car that you can rely on and can afford to drive every day due being a diesel. an active parts network makes most parts cheaper than a modern shopping car (eg. Merc 2 pot brake caliper costs only £55) + classic car insurance (eg. £160 PA).  Or choose as I have in the last 2 years. just keep it as an investment grade classic for sunshine weekends.
This is the last of the 1970s chrome bumper style Mercs - what then became the E Class. If you have never driven a 70s merc then you have the ultimate in comfortable wafting along the road with any bumps absorbed away to nothing- An everyman's Rolls Royce. The car is not the fastest accelerating but cruises sweetly all the up at 70 or even 85 quite happily in the 5th manual gear. One of the 1st productions cars to have disc brakes all round and responsible for the innovation of crumple zones (research the w123 online to see the reliability and significant historical)
ONLY SELLING AS I HAVE MOVED ABROAD FOR WORK AND I'M LOOSING THE GARAGE SPACE THAT I RENT FOR HER.
Ex wedding car complete with white roses. white golf umbrella and Reg A20 WED (valued last year at £900 by independent Reg selling company)
61. 0 miles with 16 MOT certificate but little other paperwork as I have worked on it myself and the 2 Wedding car companies did their own maintenance. To my knowledge this car has only seen 2 or 3 winters in its 29 year life and it shows underneath in the condition.  I have owned the car for 5 years and enjoyed maintaining the car myself  (46. 00 miles at 2008 MOT)- easy novice level work. with a brilliantly simple engine and huge engine bay to access anything easily. Probably one of the best original diesel engines ever made. The interior is in superb condition with the wedding companies using white seat covers and I have used faux leather black covers so all seats are unmarked.
The V5 doc shows 7 owners but I believe that the actual history had 1 original owner until it became a wedding car in around 88 and then the wedding car company changed hand from father to son thus counting a second owner. So I suspect in reality I am the 5th or 6th owner.

My Work (I work on all of my 3 classic cars)

Work done by me in last 6/7 years - think I bought it in 2007 or 2008:
full Exhaust replaced 2009 (£130 ish)
Rear suspension springs and shocks replaced 2008 (£260)
brake pads and 1 stick caliper in 2007ish (caliper only cost £55)
4 winter tyres I will give you free with the car (cost £380) New summers on now. (£280 175 x 80 x 14 I think)4 new brake flexi hoses this year New engine bay soundproofing carpet (Almost silent running above 50 mph) 2 sets of hub caps - I set is nearly concourse (for weddings or Merc shows) and the others are in good but used condition.
Wheel arch and sill full underseal rust proofing in 2009 (no previous rust underneath or cracked factory underseal - just pre-emptive chassis loving!)
Any Negatives?
I am including 4 winter tyres with the car - I used the car in my 1st winter of ownership and regret allowing some salt onto the rear arches. The car was 100% rust free when it was professionally wax oiled and undersealed but from that winter.  some touch up paint areas on rear arches and just behind front driver side wheel (5-6cm as shown in photos) requires a sand down and touch up. Also someone caught the rear chrome bumper and bent it slightly downwards (see photo)- I have searched for a replacement but none I have found are in as good condition. If removed it could be bent back I think.  Other than that and consummables the only maintenance this car has needed age 29 has been perished rubber items and most of these are now done!
