For sale is my 1991 Jaguar XJ-S 5. 3 V12 Convertible 69. 00miles. I have owned this car for nearly twelve years and the only reason I am selling is because of a move overseas. Twin headlight conversion (so much prettier than the original headlamps) finished in burgundy with magnolia leather. Last of the hand built Jaguars before they became Ford Mondeo's! Great oil pressure even after a long run. The car comes with an MOT (May) only one advisory. The car has done less than a thousand miles in the last three years as I have spent most of my time abroad. It has been garaged whilst I was away. 2+2 conversion. bodywork excellent (Bare shell respray three years ago. new wheel arches. sills etc. ) Photo's of respray in progress available. Cruise control. Alarmed. Electric windows. Computer. Remote C/L. Air con. Electric roof (brand new including superstructure. from facelift model. hence slightly smaller back window). Headlining excellent. the newer insulated type from the face lift model. Pioneer stereo and speakers with remote control.

I will list all the works done over that 12 year period:
New oil cooler. New front sub-frame. New steering rack. New tyres all round (Pirelli 600's). New radius bushes. New ball joints. New radiator expansion tank. New radiator hoses. New discs and pads. New front wheel bearings. New thermostat. New rear window motors. Re-conditioned heads (65. 00). Re-conditioned starter motor and solenoid. Re-conditioned radiator. Many other incidentals (I have all bills).

Fuel tanks are unavailable anywhere for this car. They are prone to condensation rotting the underside of the tank. hence they are no longer available as they have been in constant demand. Mine started to leak this summer and the tank has just been removed and epoxy coated at huge expense making it bomb proof and will last forever.

This car is 25 years old and is therefore not perfect. so here are the problem bits:
Electric windows sometimes stick. I drive with them up even with the roof down. Cruise control is not working. I hate cruise control so never bothered to fix it. Interior door panels are only 'fair'. Carpets are not brilliant either. servicable but could do with replacing in the long run. Bits of the woodwork trim showing signs of flaking (not the dash or skislope). One small section of bubbling below the windscreen (see photo). Odometer has just decided to stick on tickover to 69. 00.

Electrics are dodgy on wing mirrors. seat heating and lumbar support. (Mr Lucas. the Prince of Darkness!)
The seats were refurbished with new piping three years ago but the drivers seat has a small tear along the outside seam (see photo) This has only just occurred so I will endeavour to get repaired before the sale.

I have obtained permission from the Australian Government to export the car there and if it doesn't sell I may well still take it with me. the aussie rules and regs are very strict so on balance I would rather sell here before I leave.

I have loved owning this beautiful car. and will be very sad to see it go. driving in the summer with the roof down leaves a permanent smile on my face. A wonderful long distance tourer.
