1968 Ford Mustang Fastback - Fully restored - Perfect driver for sale

Current customer rating: current rating for this car(2.15) based on 372 votes

For sale is the dream car that I had been wanting since my teenage years; unfortunately. I could not afford one until I was in my mid-fifties when I finally bought my Baby in 2006 from a Florida seller. Health problems are now keeping me from enjoying my '68 Mustang Fastback and I would rather sell it to someone who can still get full advantage of this fully restored . beautiful car.

The restoration was a personal labour of love done from the bottom up: all new front end parts which makes it a very solid car on the road but still drives like a 1968 car should drive! Alignment is perfect and the car is solid and straight. All the numbers match ( except the engine ) and I have photos of the fender stamps if you wish. The engine is a very strong 351W with approx. 13. 00 miles on it; Edelbrock 4 bbl carburator. Edelbrock 351W Intake manifold. Parts that have been replaced  under the hood are too numerous to list but include starter. water pump. alternator. belts. hoses. radiator. etc. The heater core was replaced and all adjoining parts were either sandblasted and/or painted. Transmission is the original C4 . 3 speed automatic which shifts smoothly.  New rear end gasket with complete service of the drive shaft and adjoining parts.

All new shock absorbers with 15" Magnum 500 wheels and 15" Goodrich T/A tires with less than 1200 miles wear ( see picture ). All mechanical work was performed by  a  meticulous certified tech who specializes in antique vehicles and is extremely fussy about his work. New brakes front ( disks with new  2 piston calipers coated in zinc dichromide ) and drums in the back. New Master cylinder.

The interior was completely redone to manufacturer's specs which means proper insulation over the new headliner. proper plastic sheeting and insulation in the door panels. new window regulators. new seat inserts in the front - back seat is in original excellent condition - all new floor carpeting ( including proper pony  carpeted floor mats). The instrument cluster is in perfect working condition with a cherry wood steering wheel. New dashboard. etc.   The trunk  is finished as per specs but do not include the scissor type jack  - includes the full spare and separate small jack. You can perhaps get lucky and find the REAL type jack for this car which I couldn't find anywhere. The rear glass is the original as well as the side windows with chrome trim; the windshield was replaced.

To list all the new parts on this car would be lengthy. New Gas tank and  sending unit . New chrome ( real chrome ! ) bumpers  both front and back with bumper guards in the front.

The best way to  determine the exact work on this vehicle would be to examine all the receipts which I have kept over the years and total over $50. 00.

The exterior was done 3 years ago: this included hand sanding to the metal. 3 coats of primer. 2 coats of sealer and 3 coats of Shelby Absolute white: the C-stripes were then applied and the whole car was then clear coated ( 3 coats ). There are no edges to the stripes on the sides but the hood stripes remain in a mat/satin finish. There are no scratches nor dents on the car since it has not seen rain in over 6 years and has only been driven approx. 1200 miles in the last 6 years. The car was stored in a heated garage from October to May under a car cover with full service ( oil. filter. grease. tc ) prior to storage. As much as possible. the original trim around the windows was kept and re-installed after some polishing.

The car was re-wired from front to back using a Ford Mustang complete wiring harness from the original supplier. All exterior and interior lights are in perfect working order including the fog light wiring and switching as per manufacturers specs. Signal indicators as part of the hood assembly. The sound system is a Concours Mustang AM/FM cassette 200 W system with 4 speakers and have an auxiliary jack for satellite radio.

My baby was only driven under perfect weather conditions and stored in a garage when not used; it has won several awards over the last few years including People's Choice award for 64 1/2 to 69 at the Provincial Mustang show 2 years ago . The car has been inspected and certified  mechanically until May 2015 under our Provincial Regulations. The car was appraised at $37. 00. by Hagerty for insurance purposes just last year.

The successful bidder will receive all the remaining gasket sets for the engine and transmission as well as all shop manuals including engine and electrical. If the buying price is right. you will also get a brand new instrument cluster from Classic instruments bought 3 months ago for $1. 50. which was built specifically for this car and comes with all the necessary sending units ( see pic ); although the instrument cluster in the car presently is fully functional. I had been planning to replace it with this unit to make it a bit more "stocky".

Here comes the money part: I am asking $27. 00 ( a little over 50% of the investment so far in the car )  but would consider REASONABLE offers . This is a HEAD TURNER with a nice . smooth rumble engine sound which you will enjoy driving for years with  proper care and maintenance. But . this is a 1968 vehicle. so there are no warranties offered or implied - just my personal guarantee that this car was done right for you to enjoy. AND SHOW OFF!!!!!!

I am not the most adept person with a digital camera or computer; if you want more pictures. just e-mail at crajeb@eastlink. ca and I will get someone to take the pics for you.

As stated earlier. this was a labour of love ; I am hoping that Marty ( my wife's name for my baby ) will find a good home where it can be enjoyed to its fullest since I can't anymore.

Thank you for looking.

P. S. As I have the car listed in other areas. I reserve the right to withdraw this auction at any time.
