Fly in and drive this truck home. up for sale is my 1953 Chevy 3800 one ton flatbed truck. I have owned this truck for 5-6 years and in that time I have replaced the engine with a 1957 235 Chevy engine and gotten almost every other system other than the hydraulic hoist replaced or refreshed. This vehicle rotates out as one of my two daily drivers. I would not hesitate to drive this to California or Maine right now. The truck has the original 18 inch lock ring rims on it(not split rims) though tire shops often confuse the two. the tires are around 5 years old and have about half their tread life still in them. With this truck you can go just about anywhere. at 53mph. She just isn't designed to go faster with the current gearing. The 235 engine is out out of a Belair with roughly 65. 00 miles on it. I replace the rod and main bearings around 2000 miles back. The engine runs great and as I said I would take it across country at the drop of a hat. This truck is a one ton chassis and suspension so goes over the bumps a little roughly unless you are loaded. I have all of the hydraulic hoist parts for the bed but the pump valve is stuck so I removed the pto and all of the hydraulic parts.  the bed paint was originally red but I painted it the same blue as the body. you can see that in some of the pictures above. The photo of the truck with the John Deere in tow is the latest picture. The original 216 and a spare 235 donor engine go with the truck . I have numerous manuals. spare parts and a spare tire/rim that are also included. I restored this truck to use and enjoy it - it is not a museum or show quality restoration unless you are at a tractor show or picking up lumber in the home depot parking lot. It has hauled tractors. sand. lumber. hay. tools and more as a usable truck. I know that show trucks look really great but I wanted a truck I could use. I did purchase restoration grade parts from places like LMC. Bowtie Bits. Classic Truck parts(riverside. mo) Chevs of the 40's. etc because I wanted to keep it as authentic and original as possible.
During my ownership I have fixed or replaced the following:Tires. tubes and flapsEnginebatterywiring harness (still a 6v system all around)Generatorstartervoltage regulatorheadlight switch90% of the instruments - I have the original speedo for the original odometer statement.  control cablesrebuilt the carb multiple timesfuel pumpall glass and 90 of the sealsthe seat was rebuilt and recovered professionallythe left door mechanismtie rods and jointsall lightsheater core was fix and does not leakhoseschassis paint and bed paint - the body was originally navy blue but was repainted by the second owner a ford tractor blue. the paint is fair at best.  bed wood front suspension shacklesheadliner and door panelsCab windlaceI have the proper 1953 "3800" hood badges that will go with the truck. the previous owner installed incorrect "3100" badges when he had the ford blue put on. the 3100 badges are all the restoration houses sell. my "3800" badges are ones I got off of ebay from a parts yard.  and other items that I will remember after I post this to sell.
the truck is in the greater KC area. I can store it until you can come and get it. I can pick you up at the airport. help you load it. etc. I will only deliver it in an area roughly in a 1 hour circle of KC. You can honestly fly in and drive this home. I drive it to work about half of the week and whenever it is not raining. It is a great truck but I now have two little boys and need a classic vehicle that can haul four butts so a Willys wagon is being restored. Please ask relevant questions to the sale/purchase of this vehicle. I will take a picture of the current 235 to post here in the next day or so. I have the title free and clear in the state of Kansas
updated - the brakes were overhauled by the previous owner roughly 10 years ago. They work great and you can lock up all of the wheels easily. I have spare brake shoes for the front that will go with the truck.
