1988 Mercedes-Benz 500-Series

Hello! Up for auction is a  1988 Mercedes-Benz 560SL.   I am listing this car for a friend. and can quickly get in contact with the owner if you have any questions that are beyond the info that is listed below. That said. a little about this car:

This is a two-owner vehicle in very good. un-restored condition. The current mileage is only 66. 39. The first owner purchased the car new here in Greenwich. It is my understanding that she generally kept the car in Connecticut. but on several occasions  shipped it down to the her vacation residence in Palm Beach. FL.

After approximately 14 years of ownership. the car was traded locally to Mercedes Benz of Fairfield. The second (and current) owner is a local professional who purchased the car from the dealership in 2002 with just under 50. 00 miles. Since that time. the car has been regularly maintained and enjoyed as a seasonal luxury vehicle. leading to the it's current low mileage and condition.

Cosmetically. the vehicle is in overall very good to excellent condition. As can be expected from a 28 yr old car. there are a few nicks in the paint and there are a couple spots where there is some haziness in the clear coat. but overall shows very nicely. Mechanically. the car is in great condition - it starts without hesitation. and runs. handles. and stops without any problems. There are no idiot lights on on the dash. All original interior except for an upgraded stereo with CD player. The Continental tires are in like new condition. and all fluids and regular maintenance has been performed. I have had the opportunity to drive the car. it is a joy to drive and everything works as it should. Even in a town where Astons. Ferraris. and the like are as commonplace as Chevys. I have been repeatedly stopped by people who wanted to tell me how much they admired this beauty! Recently. a leaking fuel injector component was replaced at a cost of approximately $600.   Also. the underhood padding/insulation is starting to separate. so the owner asked that I have it replaced before sale. A new pad is on order. The only mechanical issue with this car is that the air conditioning does not work. It holds a charge but there is a component under the dash that would need be replaced.

The convertible top is in great shape. and as you can see from the pics. the car also comes with the factory hard top (also in great shape) and a storage stand. The sale also includes a car cover. a storage cover for the hard top. and all factory books and manuals.

The car is located in Greenwich. CT. and I am happy to schedule local viewing for serious parties. There are also several excellent import and exotic shops in the area if you would like to have the car taken to a mechanic for an inspection. The Stamford. Greenwich. or White Plains.
