I've owned it for 2 years and its driven daily. For its age overall. the car is in a really good state. nbsp;especially considering its been driven and enjoyed too. The interior is surprisingly good. with only some wear and tear starting to show on the front seats and sun fading at the top of the door cards. however the rear seat is pretty much immaculate perfect condition and the dash is really good too. Underneath. the car really is in great condition. far better than the two Ford Capris i've owned which were 10+ years newer! There aren't any holes in the floorpan. the sills are good. you can really tell its been looked after and undersealed its whole life. As you can see from the photos. the body work clearly isn't showroom condition. there are a few rust patches appearing. most notably a hole on the drivers front wing. Although its the original Onyx green colour. it appears that at some point in its life. the car has had paint. unfortunately there are a few chips. marks and some lacquer peel. That said. its 43 years and its a great looking car. Not only does it look the part. but the V8 sounds absolutely amazing. this car really turns heads and demands attention wherever you go.
I spent most of last summer doing the engine conversion. at shows people have commented on the high standard of work and how the engine looks like a factory fit. A lot of hard work and time went into making the car what it is and i dread to think how much money i spent on it. The engine is a 3. 9L from an early 90's fuel injected (Unleaded) range rover. it seems to have been well looked after and in a good state. On top is an offenhouser manifold that enables the use of the Holley 390 4BBL Carb with an Edelbrock air filter. The engine has adaptors to use the Edelbrock Chevy rocker covers. It has a brand new full electric ignition distributor. the coil and HT leads etc were also part of the kit.
The car uses the original BW 35 auto gearbox with the correct bellow housing and torque converter to mate it to the V8. The gear box was moved back a few inches for clearance necessitating the brand new 1 piece propshaft that was made for it. It uses a brand new aluminium radiator plumbed in with new pipes and twin electric fans triggered automatically to keep her cool. The exhaust manifolds were made by me to fit and i had the rest of the exhaust system professionally built. It had to go under the rear axle due to space restrictions. The system is full stainless with two centre boxes and 2" diameter pipe. Did i say it sounds incredible already?!  To handle the bigger engine. the brakes were uprated with rebuilt 4 pot princess callipers. EBC Greenstuff pads and vented discs from a 2. 8 Capri. i also fitted a brake servo and brand new master cylinder. this is plumbed in with new brake lines and good ridge braided hoses. The rear axle is a fully rebuilt Atlas type set up with 3. 09 gears from a V6 Capri. this works great with the 3 speed box. It will happily sit at 70+ all day and accelerates up to it in no time at all.  The car was already polybushed and lowered when i got it. after doing the engine swap i decided to raise it up to standard height with new HD springs (My preference) The old lowering springs are included if you want them.
Inside. the car has a Retrosound head unit that looks at home in the dash. it does however have USB inputs hidden and Bluetooth handsfree audio for calls and music. The original mono dash speaker was replaced by two 4" speakers hidden in the parcel shelf with a really neat trim piece i made - No door cars were butchered! It has an aftermarket oil pressure gauge and a neat rev counter i modified into the dash in place of the analogue clock that stopped working years ago. It also has two cup holders a phone holder and a USB/ 12v charging port built onto the centre console. It looks neat and makes the car that much better to live with as a daily. The car also has a Thatcham Cat 1 alarm and immobiliser fitted. so you don't have to worry about it going missing!
This car really is ready to drive away and enjoy. however there are a few niggley issues that you may want to resolve at some stage. The carb has a bit of a flat spot and could do with being jetted and set up on a rolling road. The exhaust manifolds do blow a bit and could do with some working. The coolant needs to be topped up every week or so. keep an eye on this. There is also a slight weep of oil from one of the heads that develops over time. again keep an eye on this. Aside from that. the body work could do with some attention if you're that way inclined. as i use it daily it wasn't a high priority for me.
I really can't stress enough how fun she is to drive. As you can imagine. it goes well. it sounds incredible and turns heads everywhere. I've just got back from a week long road trip around Dorset and Devon and it didn't miss a beat the whole time. It will be sad to see her go but my priorities have changed and its time for someone else to enjoy and look after her.
It's very reasonably priced to sell. whilst i am open to sensible offers from people with genuine interest and intent. i'm not prepared to let her go for cheap. I am not looking to swap the car for anything. so please don't ask.
If you have any questions or are interested. please message me on here with your phone number and i'll call you back as soon as possible.

Hi is the car still for sale? I have been thinking about making a V8 Cortina with a Jaguar engine but it might be better to buy one that has already been modified, thanks Nick
