You are bidding on my  rare vintage 1950 Muntz Jet Convertible Sports Car.

1950 Muntz #105 is one of less than 30 1950 models produced and is number 5 of all Muntz cars produced (research indicates that perhaps only slightly over 200 cars were built. even though Earl Muntz claimed close to 400).    This is believed to be the next to the oldest Muntz known to exist.   Some say the head lights have been resculptured and the wire wheels were added by the original owner. as I understand it.

I have no information as to what maintenance or mechanical restoration has been done.   Engine has not been started in a number of years.   The heads are clean under the valve covers. so the engine may have been rebuilt.   I have never turned the engine over. but I did put penetrant down the cylinders.

As I have another Muntz I want to keep which is in good condition (I drove it from Oklahoma to California and back). I thought I might offer Muntz M105 for sale before starting restoration on it.

This Muntz has aluminum fender and doors. the rest is steel except for the right rear rocker panel (which someone attempted to fabricate out of alluminum ) .   Left headlight area has been bumped at some time.

The car is mostly rust free. but areas on the sides were cut out for patch panels where the aluminum must have reacted with the steel next to it.   That is the only reason I can think of for the patch panels. as the adjacent metal is very solid.

Bumpers and the sheet metal where the stop lights and tag go have been restored at some time.

Seats have probably been redone at some point and could be cleaned and treated and used "as is" if a person was not doing a total restoration.

Instruments and most interior are all intact.   A previous owner disassembled the drivers door window for some unkown reason .   I believe I have all the parts (which are mostly 50 Ford parts anyway).

I have not found a name yet on the four wire wheels ( fifth one is missing as I remember looking in the trunk and now am having a problem remembering how I got the trunk open).   The "knock offs" are RUDGE  WHITWORTH and I think the wheels are probably BORRANI.

The engine is a Cadillac V8 (which is what Muntz used in the first cars).   It has an aluminum EDMUNDS dual carburetor intake and two Carter carbutetors.

I do have a current tag and title for this car. but I am selling it "as is". " where is " with no guarantees.

These cars have shown excellent appreciation for the last 10 years or more and this car is one of the rarest of them all.   There are probably only about 12 1950 models left in existance.

You are welcome to inspect this vehicle either in person or by a representative. just call for an appoinment.

I have attempted  to give and accurate description. but if you have any question please call me at 405. 878. 9775 or on my cell at 405. 214. 8812 rather that e-mails.

Thanks!!!!!

What happened to the Muntz? Did it have a reserve? Is there a sale price?

from Richard Woodland, dated 13 november 2017
What is the story? I thought I had purchased the car but no follow up regarding payment, confirmation or anything.
If I am getting the car, I need to know or go on to another.

I'm confused. What is your cut-off? I offered full purchase price so I'm at a loss that no one has contacted me at [email protected]
