For sale is  1980 Morris Marina 1700L 4 door saloon. Issued on a W reg this makes it one of the very last Mk3 Marinas to be registered on the road as production of the Ital took over the same year. just a month before this very car was registered. This car is in great shape having had restoration work to the body by the previous owner in 2012. The body is very much rust free minus a few isolated spots on the roof guttering. It also had a respray in its original sandglow colour which looks excellent. The wheel arches. door bottoms. headlamp mounts and front wings are in excellent condition. The chassis is also in good condition with no rust. It has had just two owners from new and up until last year it hadn't seen a road since 1998. It has convered only 28. 00 miles from new. this definitely hasn't been around the clock. just looking at the condition and how well the car performs just helps to prove how little this car has seen use. it has been sat more than it has ever been used. Over the past year it has been used as a daily car. often seeing more than two hours of continuous use at a time and being used for commuting almost daily. It is extremely reliable. only breaking down once when the original lucas alternator failed. The 1700 engine was a new design at the time. featuring an overhead camshaft it is very much as good as a modern engine and extremely reliable. The car runs. drives and stops brilliantly and it has had quite a bit of work done which includes:

New LH column switch fitted
Replacement (NOS) Brake Master Cylinder
Replacement (new) Clutch Slave
Replacement (new) Alternator
New Timing Belt
New Fan Belt
New Dizzy Cap. Points. Condenser. Spark Plugs. HT Leads
Head Gasket Replaced
New Battery
New Indicator Solenoids
New Boot Lid Seal
Front Calipers Refurbished and new pads fitted
New set of tyres fitted 2 months ago
Replacement throttle cable

It has also had over £2k spent on parts and work alone and £500 of that spent on this years MOT which included work to the steering rack. indicators. headlamps and it also had its first bit of welding in 36 years to a jacking point. emissions were great too. No money has been spared on the car. as it was being used as my daily if it needed any work it has been done and it has made it into an excellent usable classic car. The interior is in good shape. carpet. dash and door cards look perfect. The seats have suffered the usual sun damage but they aren't too bad still. to find a full velour interior in good shape is probably now impossible as the fabric doesn't age well at all. The car is fitted with a Sanyo cassette radio which will need some repair as the signal breaks up easily or it could be replaced with a modern one. The blanking plate for the dash is included if you wish to remove it completely. The fuel gauge has stopped working recently. whilst this never bothered me as I would fill the tank weekly it will need repair. The sender may just need a clean up as I think it is just sticking. it has done this before and then worked fine again a month later.   The only bits bad about the car is the boot area. one corner has a hole as pictured. This started as a drainage point with a rubber plug to drain out any water that may collect into the boot but it has corroded a little and will need welding up. not a difficult job but something that didn't really bother me. the other side is fine and still has the rubber plug fitted. There are also some very small dents at the very bottom of the rear quarter where the scissor jack has hit the side of the car from the boot. I have photographed it and it isn't actually that noticible but it is there. The wheels will need properly balancing as they were filled with balancing powder (usually used on HGV and buses) but doesn't really work well on small wheels. Other than that it is in great order and genuinely an honest car. Front hub caps and a few other spares are included in the sale. It has an MOT certificate until April 2017 and just four more years until it can be classed as a historic vehicle with free tax.
