This 1981 Chevrolet Corvette is a stock example with 50k-miles. a numbers-matching L81 small block and a rare. desirable M18 (RPO MM4) four-speed manual transmission. 1981 was the last production Corvette with a TRUE 4-speed. The 1982 was available with auto trans only and the C4 had a Doug Nash 4+3. As one of the first Corvettes assembled at the new Bowling Green facility. this car wears an enamel paint job rather than the lacquer that was sprayed in St. Louis. Corvette offered this 80L 80U 98M Claret Metallic over Dark Claret two tone paint scheme only one year. Roughly 1. 00 cars left Bowling Green with these colors and still fewer were equipped with a 4-speed and this subtle. classy Slate interior. Typically. the Dark Red interior was matched to these exterior colors.
Additional options include power disc brakes. power steering. power door locks and windows. factory air conditioning. never-before-offered electric seats. removable glass roof panels. electric rear window defogger. electric twin remote sport mirrors. aluminum wheels. a power antenna and a dealer-installed rear deck T-top rack. The racks are missing. but they can be picked up on eBay every now and then. The rack creates needed luggage space in the rear stowage compartment but their use is not recommended at highway speeds. as they tend to buffet and cause damage to the rear surface of the Corvette. Finally. an after-market. high performance suspension kit has been recently installed.
Mike Flannery Chevrolet in Englewood. CO optioned the Slate interior with cloth inserts then one of the dealership's owners made it his personal demo car. Years later. the first and only legal owner replaced the inserts with OEM leather inserts. This is technically a one owner car.  The interior weathered well. showing wear commensurate with it's age and the relatively low mileage. The first owner kept it parked in his heated garage in the small town of Story. Wyoming where it was maintained to the highest standards and rarely driven on sunny days.
This is truly a beautiful. low mileage. well cared for car.  It is a pleasure to drive. is in exceptional condition for its age and will make someone a happy - happy person! It will come fully serviced and ready to enjoy!
