1987 BMW E30 325 IS 5SP - ORIGINAL OWNER 26 YEARS - DELPHIN METALLIC/RED LEATHER

1987 BMW 325iS E30 RWD two door w/ 5sp manual transmission- 100% original. unmolested. and has been referred to as "sat in a time capsule" condition.   This car has been relegated to weekend use (BMW events) and is rarely taken out of the garage. That being said. the car could be driven across the country today with absolutely no issues.

Delphin Metallic with Cardinal Red leather interior (rare and sought after color combination)

Original owners garage kept for all 26 years. no modifications. and all OEM parts from dealer with any repairs always done by a certified BMW tech (father purchased at Daniels BMW on 7/2/87 for $27. 11 new and still have receipt and original window sticker. car has been in my possession since 2003 and transferred title into my name last month for the sale because he lives in Florida now). This was the year of the major update to the M20 engine with substantial power increases.  

Options

Has all the factory options. the following are on the car (these options. other than the sunroof. do not come on the standard 325i model): This includes a limited slip rear differential. sport seats. sport suspension. fog lights. OEM BMW BBS wheels (5). rear spoiler. Mtech1 sport steering wheel. power sunroof. and pop open rear windows.

Overall Condition

Brand new PA inspection and emissions w/ stickers valid until July 2014 with new brakes. rotors. and all 4 tires done this year. All lubricants changed when inspection was done. A more complete list of recent repairs is shown below including a complete top end rebuild.   A/C blows cold. There are no check engine or warning lights lit.   All power windows and sunroof. instruments on dash. tach. speedometer. lights. foglights. work fine.   The sunroof does not leak.   The car needs nothing mechanically and is one of the nicest cosmetically originals you will find.   I would rate the interior/exterior condition 9/10.  

Exterior

No accidents or work has ever been done to any part of the metal body. straight as an arrow on every panel. The VIN numbers match everywhere.   The paint on the body is original and still has a rich shine to it.   The car was parked in a garage for the last 26 years and it looks that way.   Even the chrome around the windows and bumpers is shiny and not the brown color that is seen on most that sit outside. Other than typical micro rock chips near the front of the hood or a light scratch on the passenger door seen under direct sunlight. the exterior is about as good as you will see for an original. The front lower plastic valence does have some imperfections that were touched up as you will see on any e30. (although it is an easily replaceable part held on with five brackets that is not part of the body of the car. if you want to make this a true "show car"). Also. there are no rust issues.  

Interior

The interior of the car is all original and immaculate.   I have taken the seat out for a couple of the pics in the ad just to show how clean the carpet and seats are.   The leather passenger sport seat and rear seat have almost zero usage throughout the cars life (no damage or tears).   The leather on the drivers seat is structurally perfect other than 2 small splits (about an inch) from getting in and out which were patched (bolsters on both sport seats are firm and feel snug).   The carpet is clean and the mats are brand new BMW floor mats.   The dash is perfect with no cracks and the trunk area is also.   The headliner is in great shape and does not sag.

This car comes with everything it came with day one. 2 keys. a full size BBS spare with tire in perfect condition. fold up toolkit. lift jack. owners manual. and even a BMW tape cleaning kit.

Mechanical

Approximately $7000 in mechanical work has been put into this car over the past 20K miles

The car currently has 153K miles (less than 6K miles/year) and the M20 2. 5L inline-6 motor had a full top end rebuild done just 15k miles ago by a certified BMW tech. done the correct way as outlined below.   All relevant maintenance such as timing belt/tensioner. accessory belts. and waterpump were done at the time as well.   The motor runs as strong as ever and you will be hard pressed to find one that feels as smooth as this through the entire power range.   These BMW OEM parts were all done during the engine build:

All BMW OEM struts on all fours corners done at 130K miles ($1400)

R-134 air conditioning conversion (from R-12 which is no longer used) ($300)

Four tires recently replaced - 90% tread left ($600)

New brake pads/rotors in 2013 ($450)

All fluids and general tune-up items done. ($250)

Many other different random parts such as bushings. oil level sensor. relays. fuel pump. exhaust. plugs/cap/rotor etc have been replaced. (>$1000)

If you are viewing this ad. I assume you are familiar with the E30 325is and how rare the iS 2-door with manual trans are.   The 1987's are probably the best year to have and one of the strongest chasis BMW has ever built. the frame can withstand 1000 hp without modification.   They have a cult following and are a sought after collectible that are appreciating in price now.   Among the E30's only the M3 is more desirable than the iS and to find one in all original/great condition is almost impossible.   The car is 26 years old and will qualify for antique plates/emissions exempt in PA if you chose to go that route (although I use standard plate on it with valid emissions stickers).
